Feeling Much Better Today & Project 365 #14 & #15

NaBloPoMo November 2016
Sorry for the funky mood yesterday. Feeling so much better today. It helps that I didn't freeze all danged day.

I finally found another set of size 7 circular knitting needles. They'll do for now, except that I think I'm allergic to the nickle plating and will either have to go in really short bursts or find some cotton gloves to wear. They also have a more blunt tip than the one that broke, so it was a little awkward (this yarn is a little bit splitty). I messaged the company about the needle that fell apart, and while they have offered to replace it, they say it will take 6-8 weeks as it has to come from India. WTF? Load of crap there. So, while I wait for that replacement, guess I order a new one off eBay or something. It cracked me up when I titled this photo "Broken Dreamz" - Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" started playing in my head. LOL

Here's a link to an amigurumi pumpkin I want to make. Let see if the link keeps the Google Translate function intact.

There's a winter storm watch in effect for Thursday and Friday of this week. I'm really not looking forward to driving to Custer in the snow. Hope it's not as bad as some people are saying. Of course, Marcus is supposed to come this weekend, so it better not be horrible. I miss him and T.

OK, on to the Project 365 photos and then I'm hauling my carcass to bed. I need to start compiling my Thanksgiving menu so I can send a shopping list to Marcus for the stuff I can't get organic around here.

#14 - I'm going to be finding skeins of floss for a while, it seems. I found a box that I thought might contain another size 7 needle as it has the extra yarn skeins for said project. Nope, but there was more cross-stitch stuff tucked in there.

Yet More Floss

#15 - The restaurant I was going to eat at tonight was closed and I was craving a burger (today was rough at work, but a different rough than yesterday). I didn't feel like cooking. Black Hills Burger & Bun in Custer is usually packed and I've only ever had carry-out from there once. As I drove by, I noticed it almost empty, so I popped in. Had some cauliflower soup and a burger called "Big Sur". Yum, radish sprouts and cucumbers. (NOTE: I am not drinking a Pepsi - that is iced tea.)

Next Cross Stitch Project & Project 365 #12

NaBloPoMo November 2016
Man, I've slept almost all day - got up around 2pm. Was going to go into Rapid City today, but I wasn't feeling like it. I watched Captain America: Civil War that I had purchased in iTunes a couple of weeks ago and never got around to watching with everything going on lately.

I was going to work on my Broncos cowl, but I couldn't find a size 7 needle (remember, mine broke last weekend) and I was getting depressed trying to find one since my craft supplies are totally disorganized. I did manage to come across the project below that I started a while back. Guess it's next - Crafter's Manifesto by Satsuma Street (on Etsy):

Thoughts on Gypsy & Project 365 #11

NaBloPoMo November 2016
Happy Veterans Day.

I'm snuggled in bed cross-stitching and watching TV. I just got through watching a version of "Gypsy" on PBS. I've always loved that musical - I was in the pit in high school. It wasn't until tonight, though, that I realized that my mother was Rose. I'm not going to elaborate more than that on the Internet.

I hid or unfriended a lot of people on Facebook and unfollowed a bunch on Twitter. I can't take the hysteria or venom anymore. My life is not dictated by who is in the White House. I feel good about where my life is going and the constant negativity is not healthy for me.

I finally have a cross-stitch finish. It's Let's Sew by Ursula Michael. Not quite sure what I'm going to make with it yet. I'm gearing up to do a Stitch from Stash project for 2017 from a group I joined on Facebook. Basically, I set a budget for myself each month (in my case $25/mo.). You get credit towards your budget for finishes. Since I have my fabric for my Angel of Cross Stitch chart and a complete set of DMC floss, I've got plenty to keep me busy.

Fly to Denver and Project 365 #2 & #3

NaBloPoMo November 2016
I was up early to get to work early and get out of town on time, so frankly I'm exhausted. Nothing major happened on the trip from Rapid City to Denver except that the TSA bitches made me throw out my almost empty toothpaste tube. Figured it would be ok since it was almost empty, but they go by oz. marking on tube I guess, not is what is actually in it. Denver didn't make me toss the very same tube last time I flew. Oh, well.

About all I can muster today is Project 365 photos and I'm hitting the hay.

Here's the Chocoholic fabric that arrived Wednesday that I ordered from Polstitches Designs to do Joan Elliott's Angel of Cross Stitch pattern:

Project 365 #18 - Yarn Crawl

Back in September, I participated in the Yarn Along the Rockies yarn crawl (the first time I’ve been in town during the whole thing so that I could participate) and doubt I’ll do this again. First, several stores had previous year’s bags for sale and the quality of this one is utterly atrocious. I would’ve paid a couple dollars more for a heavier fabric bag that I could actually use. This this is so danged flimsy the buttons keep popping off. I’m either going to have to make this into a wall hanging or line it - totally worthless as a bag.

The button (several stores ran out very early in the crawl and some, according to posters on Ravlery, said they would not get more) thing irked me, too, especially after reading that they ran out the first year (I remember that as being a reason I was glad I couldn’t do that one). Fortunately the 2 I was missing claimed they were getting more and at least they are stores I frequent anyway, so not that big of an issue (I thought). I’d be more than miffed if it had been one of the stores I absolutely hate or one the ones that are really far away. What I don’t get is, these buttons are not that expensive to purchase and could be used for all sorts of marketing purposes (heck, even sell them as an impulse buy for $1 during the rest of the year) - if you can’t afford to stock up before a crawl, maybe you shouldn’t be participating. So, one of the stores got their buttons in fairly soon. The other, after a couple of trips in there to inquire and several ignored posts on their Facebook page, finally got more in. When I went in to get it it today, they're not the same as the crawl buttons, they're bigger. Now my bag looks out of whack.

Anyway, another peeve is I can’t afford to buy something at every shop and some stores carry so little that I couldn’t find anything unique that I couldn’t get elsewhere. A couple of them seemed put off that all I did was get my passport stamp/button. If the crawl was whole month instead of 9 days, I could probably purchase more.

I made the choice to do part of the crawl and a Sunday with some of the people in my previously attended knitting group. While it was fun to hang out with them, we didn't cover a lot of ground. I was really hoping to have the entire crawl finished in the first few days, as we went up to South Dakota for the 2nd weekend of it. Since Marcus drove a Budget truck up with the rest of our stuff, I finished my last 4 stops and met him up there later (and managed to miss a turn, so I was really late).

Yeah, the whole thing ended up being a big hassle with little reward (I didn't win any of the prizes, either). Never again.

One a positive note, I did get a few new cool things to add to my stash. smile

Here's the (finally) completed bag:
