Having a Better Day

Well, at least today is going better than yesterday.

We went to CompUsa to exchange the Animusic DVD. Wouldn't you know it...there were no more in stock. *sigh* Oh, well. At least they took it back. The good news is they had a manager's special on the iSight Accessory Kit. It has a magnetic stand (among other ones) that attaches the camera to the top of a cinema display. It normally retails for almost $30, but they were on sale for $2.97. Whee! Marcus and I each snagged one. Now my iSight is sitting happily atop my display, just like at the Apple Store. Now if only I had somebody to chat with.

They're having a Dumb Friend's League telethon on Fox31 today. I'm sad...that's where we got Skippy from. I really want another dog, but I'm going to be strong and not do it until we get out of this park. I am going to blog for them as my charity this year in the Blogathon. I was torn as to which charity to pick last year, but I went with Livestrong because I knew that Marcus would donate for that charity. I've thought about volunteering down there, but I don't think I could do it. Not being able to save every animal would kill me.

Classic Computer Mag Archive

I sent a link to this site to Marcus, but wanted to make note of it here for myself to check more in-depth later on. I found a site today that has archives of classic computer magazines. The only title I really remember seeing on store shelves is Compute Magazine, but I didn't become a hard-core computer user until after Marcus bought his iMac. Before that, I knew word processing and minimal graphics. Look at me now! W00t!

Just Like Mike Does

Hey, have you seen one of the newest Apple commercials? Check out the "Meant for Work" one. Poor PC is lamenting having to play video games and play music. He's been plastered with all sorts of stickers. Just like my friend Mike's PC! It made me giggle.

Tech Pilgrim

iPod PilgrimHey, look...I finally finished Marcus' Thanksgiving graphic the day before yesterday for his site. I present the iPod Pilgrim, actually making an appearance before the holiday. It's not my best work, but it didn't come out too bad. This is the third in a series I've made for his sidebar. As soon as he gets me his idea, I promised to make him one for Christmas. I told him he should start a little archive of all of the little guys somewhere on his site to save them for posterity.

In other web news, I've got to find out why my freaking site is loading so danged slow. I'm absolutely sick of this.

The Barenaked Ladies are in town tonight. I had really hoped I could've found a way to score some tickets, but no such luck. *sigh* Next time they are in town I will see them!

Firefox Feed Reader

I started checking out using RSS readers right around the Blogathon. I didn't really have time to implement one beforehand, though. I know it would've made keeping up with the various sites a lot easier.

I pretty much forgot about it until this whole PPP Puzzle hooplah. During the first contest, it was mentioned in the forums that PPP has an rss feed for the opps. I started using that to check for new pieces. I started playing with Google's beta rss reader, but sometimes it freezes up the my browser window. It's also hard to add feeds (you have to type them in individually since you can't drag/drop or import an opml). I found somebody that recommended Netvibes and I tried that, too. Wasn't totally impressed with that one, either. I found a Firefox extention called Sage that runs an RSS reader in your sidebar. I've been playing with it for a couple of hours and I really like it so far. They have a lot of stylesheets on their site that you can change the look of the feed preview with. Since it runs in the browser, I can click the rss icon in the address bar and add it right to the correct rss folder. It's pretty nifty. I'll have to figure out how to export my list to be able to use it on the many computers I use.

Man, I love using Firefox.
