I bought a Christmas-Branded box of this off an endcap at Whole Foods last Christmas and while it doesn't keep me out the whole night, it does help me fall asleep faster. After the box was empty, I didn't think much more about it. I came across a straggler from that box in my cupboard the other day and figured that since Christmas stuff is starting to get stocked, maybe they would have it again. Turns out, after asking a clerk about it, they have it all year long, dang it!

So, I've been really sick the last few weeks. The only thing good about it is the nightly NyQuil shot I've been taking so I have actually been getting some sleep. What sucks now is, I've only got a little bit of upper chest congestion left, so I can't really justify buying more of the "Big F*ing Q" (as Denis Leary calls it) just to get sleep. Tonight is the first drugless night and I'm already a little anxious (yes, I know that's the addiction part talking).
I wish I could find something to help me sleep. I just can't do it here. Since I can sleep pretty well in Keystone, I know it has to do with the noises and energy of being in the city. I've tried OTC stuff, melatonin, Sleepy-Time teas, magnesium. It all helps with falling asleep, I just can't stay asleep. I've tried cutting caffeine - all that does is make me crankier than usual during the day. I've tried warm showers right before bed. I've tried TV on, TV off, soft music, etc. All to no avail. I guess I need absolute quiet and absolute darkness.
One of the things that sucks is Marcus is on call 24/7, so his danged phone dings all danged night.
OK, on that note, here I go. Hopefully, I'll manage a few hours of shut-eye.

This is NOT a sponsored post:
Three weeks ago I wrote about a
Mediflow Waterbase Pillow and today I went to J.C. Penney's and bought one. I saw on
Laura's site that the company was offering a $5 rebate and it turns out the Penney's also had them on sale this week. I took it as a sign that I was meant to get one. Of course, the Penney's by my house doesn't stock them. I had to go to Park Meadows Mall. Gah, I hate that place.
Even though I've been exhausted, I just can't sleep. Part of it, I know, is my pillow. I figure that if this little investment makes me actually sleep, it will be so worth it. I have been in the worst mood this week, all due to lack of sleep due to the Blogathon and my insomnia.
I've only put my head on it for a short bit, but so far it feels good. We'll know for sure tomorrow morning.

Millions of Americans deprive themselves of one essential thing needed for a healthy lifestyle on an almost daily basis: sleep.
Between our inability to deal with stress, poor eating habits, not enough physical activity, over packed schedules, allergies, sleep apnea, traffic noise...I could go on, but I think you get where I'm going with people not getting enough quality sleep.
We're supposed to get at least 8 hours a day. I can't remember the last time I actually slept more than 6 hours all in a row.
Sleep is when our bodies recharge, rebuild damaged tissue and archive our memories.
Sleep deprivation causes moodiness, lack of concentration, shortened attention spans and lower immunity. It can even stunt the growth of young children. Is it any wonder we have such a horrible road rage problem on our American Highways.
Speaking of sleep...one hour to go and I can get some. My eyes are starting to cross.

I know I bitch and moan about this every year, but I hate screwing around with the time. Pair moving the time change up three weeks with my period hitting (which always physically drains me) and I've been a mess all week. I'm exhausted but my body won't go to sleep earlier, either. How lame is that? It's a good thing I was doing mindless type of tasks at work today or I could've royally screwed something up. Plus, like I said earlier, it was 74°F this afternoon, so I caught a little bit of spring fever to boot. I hope I can get to sleep at a decent hour tonight.
Well, I'd better quit blabbing and go make dinner.
