I Work with Dunderheads

So, last Friday was SysAdmin Appreciation Day and I tried really hard to drum up support for the holiday for Marcus. Unfortunately, I work with dolts.

First, I went to Marcus' immediate supervisor to get permission to decorate his door and to get her to drum up the day with the rest of the staff. Well, she didn't bother to tell me that she was going to be on vacation for most of last week. Hmph. Turns out she didn't bother to tell anybody before she left, either.

Then I talked to my supervisor and told him we should celebrate for Marcus and the prepress tech guy. It totally slipped his mind (so he says). Nevermind that I wrote it on the CALENDAR that he looks at every darned day.

So, Friday I stopped at 7-11 and bought him one of his favorite canned caffeinated coffee beverages and proceeded to decorate his door.

Apparently nobody I work with learned how to read. All day long, people wished Marcus "Happy Birthday." After a while, he got tired of telling people it wasn't his birthday. Others thought the mini CDs in between words in my HAPPY SYSADMIN DAY banner were letter Os. I thought they might have trouble with the banner, so I printed the sign at work that morning with the URL for the SysAdmin Day site. Clueless...the whole lot.

At least Marcus knows one person in the building truly appreciates him.

My New Pillow

This is NOT a sponsored post:

Three weeks ago I wrote about a Mediflow Waterbase Pillow and today I went to J.C. Penney's and bought one. I saw on Laura's site that the company was offering a $5 rebate and it turns out the Penney's also had them on sale this week. I took it as a sign that I was meant to get one. Of course, the Penney's by my house doesn't stock them. I had to go to Park Meadows Mall. Gah, I hate that place.

Even though I've been exhausted, I just can't sleep. Part of it, I know, is my pillow. I figure that if this little investment makes me actually sleep, it will be so worth it. I have been in the worst mood this week, all due to lack of sleep due to the Blogathon and my insomnia.

I've only put my head on it for a short bit, but so far it feels good. We'll know for sure tomorrow morning.

I’m Not As Young…

Man, I am definitely not as young as I used to be. Here it is late Tuesday night and I still haven't recovered from this weekend. I'm dead on my feet, but still can't sleep. I've been in a really pissy mood, too. Yesterday I was ready to quit my job and bite the head off the next person that said anything to me. I was definitely having a case of the Mondays. When my supervisor asked what was wrong and I told him I was tired and why (the blogathon), he said, "Well, that was stupid." Maybe, but it was for charity, dang it. Grrrr. Sometimes I don't think those people Marcus and I work with get us. More on that in a future post.

I hate grocery stores. With. A. Passion! Why do they always seem to be out of the one item I went to that particular store for? Today I went to Target to get a rotisserie chicken that Marcus really likes for dinner (since I'm trying to eat healthier). Noooo, they're out of chickens. So, I don't get the rest of the stuff I need since there are only 3 check stands open and I didn't want to wait in line for two items. I head to King Soopers and you'll never guess: they also have no warm rotisserie chickens. WTF? I pick up one from the refrigerated case and head over to get his Caesar salad mix and I was going to get some spinach. No fresh spinach. At all. Now I'm pissed.

Stupid grocery stores.

Stupid Beetles

We have a big tree outside our house that gets infested with beetles every year. I think they're Elm Beetles. Anyway, they've been particularly bad this year. The poor tree has hardly any green left in the leaves at all. What really sucks is when they get into the house. There is dead beetles that I need to vacuum up all over the place. There's one that keeps landing on my monitor as I type. When I went to look out the back door earlier, the screen was just covered in them.
