Stupid Mouse

Well, OK, the poor mouse isn't stupid, it's just getting old and worn out. I have this Logitech laser mouse that I've been noticing hasn't been responding as well as it used to. I especially hate how it responds when I'm trying to draw in Illustrator. It's harder than heck to grab a point. Well, early in the week I noticed it wasn't even starting to place the cursor well and if I needed to select some specific text, forget about it! We stopped in at CompUsa yesterday and I discovered I can't afford a new mouse. Marcus said I could use the mighty mouse that came with his new Mac. After an evening of using that, my poor hand hurt so bad! Why can't Apple ship an ergonomically friendly mouse? So, I guess I'm stuck moving my corded Logitech mouse back and forth from my PC to my Mac until I can afford a new mouse.

He Loves Me

I'm cleaning off stuff off my desktop since it's getting a little cluttered and I found this cute little screenshot of an IM I was having with Marcus a while back. I just had to share:

Google Themes

I make no apologies that I love Google. Even if they are plotting to take over the world, at least they're making my life easier in the process. Seriously, when you need a no-nonsense search engine, Google is it. When you want a little more out of your home page, their personalize version is pretty cool, too. I love all the little tools and search boxes and info that you can have. I heard on the radio on the way to work the other day that there were now themes available to make your Google page pretty. That conveniently slipped my mind until I saw a post about it over at ljcfyi yesterday. I immediately went and added one to my google page. There are currently six available, but I heard that there will be more in the future. I chose the Tea House theme. I love how the scene changes depending on the time of day.

Here's a screen shot I captured last night:

Money Origami

Origami Money ShirtI was surfing around this evening and found a site I had seen a long time ago that I had meant to blog about and had totally forgotten about: Money Origami. There's really cool little gift box you can make as well as step-by-step instructions to make this little money shirt. I'll have to find a dollar bill and try that. I haven't had a lot of paper money around since I quit delivering pizzas and no longer have that tip income coming in. I wonder if you can find any stock photography of money. I've heard you can't scan or manipulate money in photoshop, though I haven't actually tried. Once again, hard to do when there is no cash about!

Unique Gifts for Pets and Pet Lovers

For many people, their pets hold a special place in their hearts. Finding unique gifts for those people and their pets is easy when you visit Big Paw Designs. Founded in 2002, they specialize in quality, hand-crafted, made in the USA charms, accessories and gifts for pampered pets and their owners. They have a little bit of everything for dogs, cats & humans: pearl collars, pewter charms, keychains, earrings, magnets, frames, treats, toys and so much more. I'm thinking of purchasing a book to make homemade dog treats.

What is truly special about this place is the line of items geared towards "resuce" animals and their parents. I'm a strong proponent of rescue groups and admire those whose utmost concern is the wellbeing of animals and finding them a loving home.

They also get involved in various charity and relief efforts. They currently are offering a special pewter charm or keychain called the "Woof Fleur de Lis," a part of the whose proceeds benefit a very worthy cause — animal rescue efforts in New Orleans.

The site is more than just a store, it's a community. There are contests, links to rescue organizations, a blog and even a pet birthday club. Add them to your list of places to go for information, gifts and supplies for your pets or those who love them.
