Sorry if things go a little wonky around in the next couple of days. I'm trying new things on the old blog. I'm absolutely determined to get part of my web business going (blog design) and I need to learn as much about Expression Engine and Wordpress as possible. If you see the site offline message, it means I screwed something up and I'm trying to fix it. That happened today when I was trying to make a second weblog in a new directory and suddenly both URLs went to the same page. I'm noticing Expession Engine documentation is not the best when explaining how to do things. I don't know if it is because most of the people using it are more programming savvy than I or what. If it wasn't for Marcus, I'd have dumped this long ago.
Things at work are getting absolutely stupid. I don't even want to talk about it anymore. It'll just make me more angry. I'm on the verge of snapping, so I need to get away before I get my butt fired.
So, I need a name for my web design business. Any ideas? (serious ones, Marcus!)

Well, today was the last day of my Oral Presentation class. My presentation went relatively well. At least it is over. I'm really wiped out. I got about 4 hours sleep last night and was working on the project all day today. As soon as The Apprentice is over, I'm off to bed.
It was really weird realizing that I am probably never going to sit in a classroom there again. I've been going there since June 2002 and it had become my second home. Many of the staff there are like family. I got a little
verklempt. I mean, I'd like to take some multimedia classes and such, but the chances of me having the money to go are slim (unless I win the lottery or suddenly land some really high-paying gigs). I'll probably be paying off student loans forever. Who knows? I might be able to teach myself or have my interests go in a different direction once I get out in the field. We'll see. I need to spend the weekend finishing up my final web project and than I'm totally done with my degree.
I tried pressing my teacher for info on the status of my previous job interview. She said she can't say whether I'm hired or not since it is not her decisison. Apparantly, the company is waiting for the city to approve something before they can be in the position to hire. Stupid city of Denver is dragging their feet. They definitely liked me, though. So, keep your fingers crossed and say prayers if you're into that. I need all the help I can get because
I want this job! Thanks!
Now that I'm almost done with school, I'm going to push myself to do some web design on the side for extra income. I had planned on staying at the pizza place for up to a year as a 2nd job to get some of my bills paid off, but I just can't do it. There are so many things going on there that blow my mind. There is so much drama and crap. If only those people would spend one tenth of the energy providing good customer service and building sales as they did with all their little melodramas, I'd be rich. I need a question answered though: Why do women who seem to hate men with every fiber of their being have boyfriends and/or get married? I am so sick of male-bashing at work. Most of these women are no picnics, either. They keep trying to get me to say disparaging things about men, too, but I won't. Even if I had terrible feelings and thoughts about Marcus, I sure wouldn't air them at work. I know some people really hate Dr. Laura, but she's right about one thing. If you want love and respect from your man, show him the same. Seems relatively simple, doesn't it?
OK, show's over. Off to bed.

I should've known. I actually remembered to say aloud
Rabbit Rabbit today (at 12:00:10 AM, freaking out Marcus as he was drifting off to sleep, mind you, but I said it!) and no luck. Booooo rabbit.
I dragged my warm, cozy body out of bed at 4:30, cleared the 6-8 inches of frozen snow off my car (after realizing I no longer have a snow brush and had to snag the one from Marcus' truck), and drove all the way across town to work through several dark intersections.
Something seemed amiss as I pulled up in front of the building. The outside looked wrong and yet every light inside the store was on. Hmm, weird. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the recessed lighting along the sidewalk wasn't on. That's why it seemed darker than normal. I go in and hear the beep of a the computer's battery backup and find a note from the manager--power outage last night (could've called my cell and left a message, but no). Well, that explains all the lights being on. Of course, the circuit that the computer system and the dough mixer are on is still out. Damn it--I can't do any work.
So, I wait. And wait. And wait.
The manager arrives and is pissed that only half of the power is back on. He leaves and then comes back in with an extention cord to run the computer from another plug so he can do the work he couldn't finish last night. An extension cord wouldn't help me because dough mixer is 220V. I finally decide to prep a bunch of stuff that isn't my responsibility, do the dishes they couldn't do because of the dark, etc. He thinks everything is hunky dory because each oven is on a different circuit and they can still do the school orders. Big surprise as he finds that the blowers for both ovens are on the same circuit that is out. He calls Excel and they promise power will be back by 6 PM. Manager calls owner to arrange to do school orders from the other store, finds out other store has no power, either. By this time, I've been there three hours. I decided I'm not waitng around anymore, so I head for home.
It was nice not to have to make dough, but I lost the money from the cancelled school orders, I'm pretty sure they won't make any dough today once the power is back on, so I'll have to work twice as hard tomorrow. That totally sucks.

Geez, going to work tonight was a total joke and waste of my time. A phone call telling me not to come in would've been appreciated instead of making me drive from Aurora to Thornton for a half hour of cutting green peppers. Just what I need when "cheap gas" is going for $1.89 right now. I'm so glad our manager is on top of things and finds out in advance when schools do/don't need to have pizzas delivered for lunch. Turns out today was an in-service day and there were no students. They sent the first batch of pizzas out before they found this out. Morons. So that, coupled with the fact that they're dead at the moment (more about that later) and there was no dough to do at all.
Next, the owner is upset that food cost is at 39% right now. Well, duh, you put out an unlimited toppings coupon—what do you expect? The store is in an area where people will take everything for free whether they wanted it or not. He's decided to raise the delivery charge to help cover the increase. I'm not sure to what as I've heard anything from $.60 to $1.00. There goes another portion of driver tips. The reason they're kind of dead now is the owner suddenly stopped sending out advertising. He's gearing up to launch some stupid pizza called "The Mediterranean." It's some chicken, garlic weirdo concoction that I refuse to try because it has green olives on it. Ewww. So, it's dead and in an effort to save labor (and make up for the outrageous food usage), several of us rush drivers were told we weren't needed. Great. Of course, the asst. manager that the head manager has a thing for is on overtime already and she works all day tomorrow, too. The whole situation is insane. I give up.
