More Work Mayhem

The handyman came today to fix the walk-in door. He showed up at the exact time that a 75 pie order needed to be made. He wasn't going to let the asst. in to get dough, so the manager had to get huffy with him. That was hilarious!

I Give Up

The morons working on the floor are doing a wonderful job (dripping sarcasm). They got about 2/3 of the store tiled, but there is black mastick pushing up between the cracks, they're not straight, some are buckling up, the subfloor is uneven so it won't be long before the tiles crack again (since they're using the cheapest tiles you can buy), and the subfloor is too high so the walkin door is scraping the new tiles. The contractors also refused to let the delivery guy bring in the food order, so when I got there to make dough, no flour. ARGH! Since the manager didn't know what time the driver was coming back, I told him I was going home. He seemed amazed that I wasn't going to waste my whole afternoon waiting around for the food order to be delivered. The good news is that I had time to go have lunch at Subway with Marcus. Yay!

Another Day in Hell

Current mood: Angry Bear frustrated
Work was a total disaster today.

First, the floors are being redone at one of the stores. The subfloor was totally rotten and the owner made the landlord replace the floor as a condition to sign a new lease. I made dough until I ran out of trays on Sunday as I knew I wouldn't be able to make dough at that store until today. The contractors were supposed to do the back half of the store first and then the front and the manager was told it would take three, that's THREE (Sun, Mon, & Tues) nights to complete the job. Well, I checked in yesterday and I knew there was no way they'd be totally finished last night, but the new subfloor was done in the back and I figured they were going to lay the tile that evening and the back would be finished. HA! I guess they decided to screw everyone, they knew best, and they decided to fix the subfloor for the entire store first and tile all at once. The whole store is a disaster area. The stupid owner should've closed while all of this is going on as there is sawdust everywhere (the new extra pizza ingredient) and the place is an utter mess. I could only make 8 of the 16 batches I was supposed to make because the manager didn't order flour. I had to scrub my flour bucket because the contractors were using it as their trash can. I was majorly allergic to something the contractors are using, so I was having a major attack (totally sucked!). Then the stupid corporate jerk shows up and tries to do his store inspection. HELLO--you're not going to be able to do an accurate assessment of how the store is being run when the whole place looks like a tornado hit. Dumbass. I was waiting for him to mention the fact that I still wasn't in uniform (like he did the last time he came in) so that I could really go off on him, but maybe the angry look in my eyes make him think twice. I was also told the health inspector showed up yesterday for the store's annual inspection and she refused to reschedule. That's too funny!

The other store has got huge amounts of school orders this week since the school year is almost done and teachers that can't teach have to bribe kids to behave with promises of pizza. Makes for a whole lot of extra dough to do for not very much money, as schools get a discount. The store with the subfloor problem doesn't get as many school orders because that store's manager ran most of them off with his crappy attitude and poor service.

The sucky part: it's not going to be any better tomorrow.
