The Cisco Kid

Oh, I forgot to mention that Marcus got his CCNA certification (the first Cisco cert) on Friday. YAY, MARCUS! I'm so proud of you!

Home Repair

YAY, it's spring! It's not even 8:00 a.m. yet and already 60° F outside. Time to do some much needed yard work. Since it's looking like we're going to be in the park another couple of years to be able to afford land, we've decided to go ahead and put in some grass and stuff. No point in being totally miserable here during that time. I'm also going to put in a small garden. I'm tired of putting off the things I enjoy. "Someday" may never get here, so I'm going to start enjoying my life. I think that's something I've been missing lately.

Well, the shower repairs took longer to complete than I thought, but it turned out great. We finished the last few details yesterday and I used it last night. No leaks! I'm such the handywoman. Next project: carpet cleaning. Whoohoo, I'm exicted now.

Yesterday we put a new remote control unit in the ceiling fan in our bedroom. The old one took a dump. The problem now is the fan remote doesn't work well, but the Dish satellite remote turns the fan on high speed. I have to look for the instruction book on how to change the Dish remote frequency since Marcus refuses to take the fan down again. I don't blame him, it was a pain in the butt.

Taking those few days off from work was fun. I so hated going back . . . And just as I thought, they didn't do all the work they were supposed to do. The weird thing on Thursday was I was mad, but I didn't blow a gasket like I normally would have. I'm to a point right now that I couldn't really care less. That's a bad sign. I usually do stupid things when I get to that point. Oh, well. I've been doing a lot a soul searching about my life the last week. I have a strong feeling that some positive changes are going to occur in the near future. I don't know wha'ts causing that, I just hope it's true.

Well, I'm going to go dig in the yard for awhile before it gets hot.

Videos? On MTV?

Can you believe they're actually playing music videos (and not crappy rap, hip-hop types) right now on MTV? Totally amazing!

Crossing Off The Project List

Sorry, I dont' think there's going to be whole lot of posting the next few days. I decided to take three days off from work to get stuff done that really, REALLY needs to get done. Luckily my satellite connection is sucking today (getting this much of a post up took forever) and it gave me the motivation to get started on my list of projects. So far, my master bath shower is totally apart and I need to run and get some things to fix it. I've been dusting, paying bills, laundry, dishes, etc. So, if I can take a few minutes to post, I will, otherwise, I'll definately post on Thursday (especially if nobody does any dough while I'm off). Wish me luck that I can get the shower back together.

Eight From The Eighties

EIGHT FROM THE EIGHTIES

1) You might as well face it, you're addicted to...
New York Cheesecake. Mmmm, I wish I had some right now. No, stop thinking about it. Argh!

2) All I really need to do is find myself a brand new...
Lover...Oh, wait, sorry, that was 10 years ago. I really need a brand new house. I want a yard and a basement and a garage.

3) Who's the wind beneath your wings?
My boyfriend, Marcus. He keeps me going.

4) Who gives love a bad name?
My ex, Alex. I'd still love to rip his testicles off.

5) Are you too shy?
Unfortunately, yes. I'm extremely shy, even online. I hate it.

6) Do you work hard for the money?
Yes. My aching feet and legs today are proof.

7) There's something strange in your neighborhood. Who you gonna call?
If Marcus isn't around, then the Arapahoe County Sheriff. That's about it living out in the middle of nowhere.

8) Why do I find it hard to write the next line?
Because I have nothing profound to say.

Friday Five

This is late this week because I had no internet connection last night and I was really exhausted to boot. I slept for 11 hours straight last night. It felt good, but I didn't get to work until almost 10 this morning. Anyway, here's my Friday Five:

Friday Five

1. What is your favorite time of year?
I love springtime.

2. What is it about your favorite season that, well, makes it your favorite season?
Spring is when things come alive. I love the baby birds, the new flowers, leaves that seem to pop out overnight. The weather is warming up, but it's not stiffling hot yet. The days are getting longer with more daylight, so I don't get as depressed as I do during winter. You get thunderstorms instead of blizzards. I love the rain.

3. What is your least favorite time of year? Why?
I hate winter. It's cold, everything is dead, the days are short. I absolutely hate having to travel in snow. It's a depressing time for me.

4. Do you do anything to celebrate or recognize the changing of seasons?
No.

5. What's your favorite thing to do outside?
I love gardening. I enjoy watching things grow and digging in the dirt.

Who Are You?

I was just reading the message boards for Gateway HS at classmates.com. I'm amazed at the people who, 18 years after graduation, are still stuck in the past. I recognize some of the names I read, but I couldn't pick any of these people out in a crowd.

Mary, a girl who was my best friend until high school, is really stuck there. She lives in South Aurora and I used to run into her alot when I worked on that side of town. To talk to her, you'd think her life ended when we all graduated. Actually, she never went through graduation. Maybe that's why she can't let all of it go. She married some military guy and shipped off to another state two weeks before graduation. She became a baby factory. I think she's got like 5 or 6 kids now and they're all kind of bratty. That's one of the reasons when she wanted to get together that I blew her off. After the 10th reunion in '94 (that I refused to go to), she got all nostalgic and wanted to get back with all her old school buddies. She doesn't realize that we have absolutely nothing in common. The only good thing about all the moving around Marcus and I did during that time was she couldn't keep up with where I was. I know that's kind of mean, but I told her once that I really didn't care to reminisce about high school That was sooooo long ago and those people are complete strangers.
