I feel like Joan Crawford from
Mommie Dearest as I write that title, but I absolutely hate having wire hangers in my closet.
For starters, they get tangled so danged easily. There has been more than one occasion where I have broken skin and bled trying to free the hangers. Also, they leave creases in the shoulders of garments that are not worn very often. The worst thing is that when you are in a hurry and tug a shirt off of one, you bend it all up.
Now, they do have their purposes. I have one that I cut apart and bended nicely to pull my hair clogs out of the shower. Back in the old days, they were very handy for breaking into your car when you locked the keys inside. Hm, that's all I can think of right now.
I've long wanted to rid my closet of these things, but it seemed so impractical. I made the first step a couple of weeks ago when I was at
The Container Store looking for kitchen cannisters. I ended up buying a box of 72 hangers instead. These are definitely more sturdy that the cheap, flimsy ones I've seen at WalMart or Target.
Now, what do I do with all the old wire ones? I'm sure Goodwill or places such as that are overrun with them. Dry cleaners won't take them back anymore. Anyone got any ideas on who might want them?

Every Friday night Marcus and I have a standing dinner date and our eating establishment of choice is a well-known wing franchise. This place used to be on our boycott list because the service and food sucked when it first opened. I don't know if they're under a new owner or what, but we gave in and decided to give them one more chance and we're so glad we did! The place is most awesome now. I'd tell you the name and link them, but after you read the next part of my tale. you'll know why I'm choosing to leave that a little vague. What's kind of entertaining recently is that one of the employees there has a MAJOR CRUSH on Marcus. Fortunately, I'm very secure in our relationship and not the least bit threatened. In fact, there have been many women who threw themselves at him in our time together. It's understandable since he's darned cute, has a great personality and the most gorgeous eyes (yes, I first fell for those eyes!). He's usually clueless to these advances and flirting and doesn't notice it until I point it out to him. Pretty much if you're not a computer or a mountain bike, he's not interested. Anyway, this poor girl is flirting and fawning over him so badly that even Marcus noticed. Sometimes I can tell it makes him a little uncomfortable, but other aspects of dining there more than make up for it.

I've put in two 12-hour days in a row at work. Yay for OT!! I hope this keeps up for a bit. I need Xmas money.
I stopped in at Starbucks today to get a frappucino while on a break from work (to go run to make my car payment) and they had all their holiday stuff up already. It was like 70°F today, so it's really hard to feel the holiday spirit. I don't see how people who live in warmer climates get in a holiday mood. I wish people and businesses would refrain from holiday decorations until after Thanksgiving.
So, I've been at my job a whole year as of yesterday. It's the first job I've had that I didn't absolutely hate after a few months. Don't get me wrong...there are days when I can't bear going to work, but it's not the job itself, just my desire to not work. Since the great Lotto God hasn't seen fit to pick me, I'm grateful to be working.
Alot of my online friends are in Vegas and I'm jealous. I was so down about that yesterday. I'm better today, but still wish I could've worked out a way to go.
Tomorrow is Payday Friday. w00t! I sure hope I get some time to work on my site design this weekend. So, that's all I've got today. I'm mentally exhausted, so I guess I'm off to bed.

When are we in the United States going to wake up? First we're held hostage by the Middle East because of our dependence on oil and now we put our health at risk buying cheap goods from China.
First we had the pet deaths and subsequent pet food recalls because of tainted grain purchased from China. Then we have umpteen recalls of children's toys due to lead in the paint. I heard a story this morning that pets are getting sick due to lead poisoning from toys made in China. Now, beads are being recalled because a chemical reaction caused when a
child chews on them releases the date-rape drug GHB. This is insanity.
In other news, the dollar has lost even more value.
Wake up, people.
