I Miss It!

I've been missing the strangest thing lately--playing bassoon. I want to play bassoon again, badly. Maybe it's been the classical music that my teacher played in my last class. Maybe it is that regretful feeling I've had about never really taking the bassoon thing seriously enough in college. Maybe I'm longing for my good old college days. Maybe it is that I want some sort of device that I can transfer my senior bassoon recital VHS to a DVD before I accidentally ruin the tape. Maybe it was intensified by the recent "Music Stand" catalog that came yesterday. I even spent the last half hour looking at bassoons for sale on eBay and realizing I can't spend that kind of money unless I win the lotto or find a really good paying job (a good bassoon costs several thousand dollars). *sigh*

I Need a Client

OK, I doubt anybody that reads this can help me out, but I really need someone who needs something printed (meaning actually on-press printing) to let me design something for them for my Design Practicum class. The main thing is this person has to be willing to actually pay for the printing costs. It can be anything: brochures, stationary package (business card, letterhead, envelope), flyers, etc. I need a client by next Monday and have to have a piece printed in the next eight weeks. This is one of those times where not having many friends or relatives really sucks. *sigh*

I’m A Raider Hater

Whoo Hooooo! The Denver Broncos just beat the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football 35-10. Way to go! I even got to see some gratuitous shots of Eddie McCaffrey's butt.

Bidding War

Man, what is it about me and last minute auction wars on eBay? Why must other people feel the need to bid on the things I want? Why do they feel the need to drive the price up above what I can afford to pay? They should know to just step aside and let me have whatever it is that I was bidding on. *sigh*

Seriously, though. I've lost a couple of auctions recently on items that I can't find on other web sites for purchase. It kind of bums me out. All I'm trying to do is get some cute collectible things to decorate my craft room. Is that so wrong? I did just win a cross stitch pattern at the last second, though. I just did to someone what always happens to me. I waited to hit the bid button until there was only 5 seconds left. I feel so mean doing that.

OK, back to the movie.

A Tad Disappointed

Current mood: bearmood ? tired lazy
WARNING: movie spoiler follows:
I watched the DVD of Chicago last night. I really enjoyed the musical numbers (then again, I usually love musicals). It was an interesting story, but I was a little disappointed in the outcome. Whoever wrote the story must've been a man-hater. It more-or-less glorified/condoned women murdering husbands and/or lovers. What was up with that? Then the main characters get off scott-free and get fame/wealth as a result of their murdering ways. Not cool. At least after seeing this, I understand what the writers on the NBC soap Passions were trying to do with these retarded musical numbers they were doing a while back.

The manager at work actually gave me four driving shifts this next week. I was totally shocked. I only got two last week and one of them he decided he didn't need me and sent me home. The same thing happened the previous week. Maybe I'll actually make more than $30 next week. Yay!!

Marcus took an Apple OS X Administration class last week that was paid for by the place where he works. He even got paid (with vacation hours). Now he's all excited about the stuff he learned and I haven't had much interaction with him lately. He's been glued to his Macs. Yay! I'm so glad he's excited about this. He and Mike have also gotten the new Tiger Woods golf game that has had them preoccupied for the last couple of weeks. Marcus needs to get a new video card to handle it, though. It keeps crashing his Mac. I need a new video card, too. And more memory. And a video camera. And a really good digital camera. Ooh, and a G5. BTW, when am I going to win the lottery?

So, since he's otherwise engaged and I have ABSOLUTELY NO HOMEWORK for the first time in ages (and probably the last time for at least the next ten weeks), I'm going to lounge and the couch and watch Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I'll probably cross stitch a little while I do. Then maybe I'll get busy and clean up around here. Maybe not.
