Project 365 #7 - Broncos Win Preseason Opener

Broncos season has begun! They beat the Seattle Seahawks (those bitches that killed us in the Superbowl last year) 21-16. I know preseason doesn't count, but a win last night was needed for the morale of those in Broncos Country. I meant to post a screencap of the final score, but of course I was away from the TV when the game ended. GRRRR! A lightening delay in the first quarter made for a late ending. I'll just have to deal with a pic of the interview with Manning in the locker room after the game.

Purple Tuesday

The Colorado Rockies are in the World Series!!!

That's something I never thought I'd get to post here.

Denver's Mayor John Hickenlooper proclaimed today "Purple Tuesday" in honor of the Rockies. Sadly, I own absolutely nothing purple, so I couldn't participate.

The Denver Post has been releasing cute little Rockies Player Paper Dolls. I've downloaded them all and even made Helton and Tulowitzki for my monitor at work. I'm going to try to make them all before the World Series begins next Wednesday. Marcus used to work with the guy whose reader submitted photo is in that story.

We're waiting to see who the Rockies' opponents will be: the Boston Red Sox or the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland is currently ahead in the series.

I can't believe I'm excited about baseball.

GO ROCKIES!!!!

Go Rockies!

How About Them Rockies?

Colorado Rockies LogoNow bear in mind that I am not a baseball fan (though my Dad is a HUGE fan) and the only game I've ever attended in my whole life is the one my father and I went to in April when I got free tickets from work.

It's still pretty cool our Denver ball team had to go to a wildcard playoff with the San Diego Padres yesterday to determine which team would go to the playoffs. Imagine my surprise when I went to the web site last night about 9:45 pm to get the results of the game only to find the game that started at 5:30 still going in OT extra innings (there, is that better, Ash?) with the score tied at 6! Ultimately the game went 13 innings with the Rockies finally pulling it out 9-8. How's that for excitement for Denver's Rockies Fans?

Now the team is in the playoffs for the first time in many years. Go Rockies!

Power Outage

Denver BroncosSo, I had that previous post almost all typed up, was just putting a few finishing touches on it before I was going to hit Submit and "poof" — the power went out. I really need to replace the battery in my Universal Power Supply. I've also misplaced that cool LED flashlight that Dave got me for Christmas. I remember last using it to take a look inside my G5, but darned if I can remember where it went after that. Grrrrr. I'm sure it had something to do with record-setting heat here in Denver today. Of course, it went out for about an hour, so I missed the end of the Bronco game. Thank goodness for the Internet to tell me that we won over the SF 49ers 17–13. Whew. I mean, I know it's only preseason, but you've got to get the season off on the right foot, especially when you're playing the team that knocked you out of the playoffs last year.

Now that it seems the power is back on for good (it went out again shortly about five minutes after it first came back on), I guess I'll try to head to bed.

No Playoffs This Year

Denver Broncos Helmet*sigh* Once again, no playoffs and no Superbowl for Denver this year. The Broncos had to win the game against San Francisco to get a playoff spot, but we lost by 3 points in OT. I guess we'll have to wait for next year.
