On August 1st, I ordered this cross stitch chart entitled
"Sew Petite" from this store. To make it worthwhile (shipping costs), I added four other charts. Today, (17 days later) the four other charts arrived, but not the one I originally wanted. How lame is that? Not a "Sorry we no longer have that item in stock" note or email. If I had been informed that they couldn't ship that chart, I would've cancelled the whole order. Poor way to run a business, if you ask me. The worst part--if you no longer have access to it, get the damn thing off your website! I am so not ever ordering anything from that site ever again.
I'm a little grumpy, can you tell? I need a nap (see previous post).

Why do I do this? I'm beginning the class I skipped tomorrow. I've known what the assignment was for literally months now. I've got 20 thumbnails due at 8 am and here it is 4 am and I've only got about five completed. Why am I such a procrastinator? The stupidest part is I'm sitting here blogging about it instead of sitting over there doing them. *sigh*

OK, so mother nature decided she was bored and decided to
shake things up today in the New York area. The Niagra Falls power grid that supplies power to New York, Detroit, Cleveland, parts of Canada, etc. shut down this afternoon. It's been really hot there and an awful lot of people live in that area. Am I the only one who didn't automatically jump to the conclusion that it was a terrorist act? Nobody was negligent, these things happen from time to time. The story right now is that it was a result of a lightening strike.

Today at work I swept up the stuff that fell all over the floor during the dough-making process into one of those
dust pans that have the long handle and hold lots of stuff (like you see the groundskeepers at amusement parks use). I emptied it into the trash can and noticed some stuff stuck in the bottom of it. There's always stuff stuck down there because the nimrods who clean at night just leave it full when they hang it up and it has many hours to sit and congeal before someone finally empties it. Anyway, dummy me decided to be nice and scrape it out. I took a long knife and scraped at the stuff and hundreds (if not thousands) of maggots come pouring out. Eeeewwwww. Well, being the thoughtful person that I am, I took it to the manager on duty and asked her if she wanted to see something truly disgusting. I thought she was going to puke. Strange that I got some sort of weird satisfaction from that as watching her and her "boy toy" make out at work makes me want to puke as well. And the head manager wonders why we have such a bad fly problem...

My friend Nina and I went to lunch at Beau Jo's today. We had intended on going last Monday, but Mike's Jeep broke down in the mountains and they had to go rescue it. By the time they got back, I was over on the west side of town. I was afraid we'd have to cancel today, also. She's been really sick all weekend, but she still wanted to go. We had some of those stuffed mushrooms that they have. Man, they are soooo good. I wish I could figure out how to make those at home. I've come close a couple of times, but they're not quite there. If anybody has ever worked there and knows the recipe, please let me know! I'll never tell, I swear. I also had a calzone. Never had one before. It wasn't too bad. A little bit too much ricotta cheese in it for my liking, but I'll smother the half I couldn't finish in some more cheese (mozzerella or cheddar) and it'll be good to go.
Word of warning: Never open a potentially breakable item you purchased on eBay over a full garbage can. I bought this cute little resin angel for my sewing room. Unfortunately, the seller didn't pack it well and the angel's little halo cracked into about 3-4 different pieces. I tried digging throught the trash for the missing piece(s), but it was near impossible amongst the sunflower seed shells and dead rice. I glued on the pieces I had and, fortunately, the missing piece(s) are on the back of the head and I can probably make something out of clay to replace it, but dang that's depressing. Good thing I only spent $1.99 for it.
Hey, go wish
Janelle a happy birthday!
OK, I've got something to work on for school. I'd better get to it.
