Ok, I don't know where the idea originated that people who work for pizza places can give out free pizzas. It's been one of my pet peeves as long as I've worked in the pizza business (11 years in April). I've gone off on many a convenience store clerk for "jokes" about refusing me service unless I brought in free pizza. There are many businesses that have lost my patronage because of being hassled by employees. I once left an entire basket of groceries at the checkout stand to make a point. Only once do I ever remember a manager scolding an employee for begging free pizzas off me. People don't ask convenience store clerks for free gasoline or WalMart employees for free merchandize, why pizza? I've never understood it. I used to be able to laugh it off, but after a few years of constant badgering, I don't take it anymore. Most pizza places don't even let their employees have free pizza. Even eating ones rejected by customers for one reason or another can be grounds for firing at some chains. It all comes down to common courtesy. Too bad there is not much of it out there.
