Current mood:
stupid
So, guess where Marcus just brought me home from—the emergency room. Yup, yours truly managed to slice the tip of the left thumb all the way to the bone with a very sharp x-acto knife. Of course, this occurred at 2:30 am when I should've been asleep and not weilding any sort of sharp object, let alone an x-acto blade. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Now my thumb is sporting five stitches (I've never had stitches in my entire life) and I had to get a tetnus shot to boot (I can't remember when I last had one). Yay! Just how I wanted to spend a Friday evening. The good news is I'll get out of doing dough for a few days. OK, I'm really tired now and I have to attend the Platt graduation ceremony at 11:30, so I'm going to take some ibuprofin and go to bed.

Current mood:
annoyed
Did you get or hear about the email being circulated that May 19th (today) has been declared "Stick It To Them Day" (the oil companies) and people are not supposed to buy gas? I've got a couple of them and had several people remind me that I shouldn't buy gas today. How freakin' stupid! Granted, I'm a little annoyed at gas price hikes, too. However, in the grand scheme of things, $2.00/gal gasoline is not that expensive. People shell out $4 for a cup of Starbucks or over a dollar for a half liter of water. Even milk is around $4 a gallon. And let me break the news to you, people: Not buying gas on one day is not going to break the oil companies. They know that you'll need to fill up sometime.
The only way you're going to "stick it to them" is to stop using fuel. Don't buy or drive cars, ride the bus or even ride a bike (they use grease on those chains and petroleum to make the tires). Your bare feet (or wrapped in animal hides-no manufactured shoes) or the back of an animal can be the only modes of transportation. You can't shop at a grocery store because that food is shipped there by trucks that use *gasp* fuel. You also can't heat your home so you'd better move somewhere warmer. I could go on, but I won't.
The whole point is, unless you plan on living totally off the land, you have to use fuel. And here's the second thing I want to break to you: George Bush is not responsible for higher fuel costs. I doubt very much that he has any pull whatsoever with OPEC. You want cheaper gas? Allow for local drilling and production. Our country has lots of oil, people just aren't allowed to get it. OPEC charges whatever they want for their product because they can. It's all supply and demand.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go gas up the car so I can get to work.

I watched the Fraser finale on TV last night and I was much happier with the way they ended that series than they did Friends. The Friends finale was just plain stupid. Except for Monica and Chandler moving to the 'burbs (which really isn't that far away), everybody is still in the city. They didn't even kick off the new Joey show. I thought for sure they would've had him accepting a job in L.A. or something, since that's where the show is supposed to be set. Or Ross would follow Rachael to Paris. It was just lame. I felt so dang disappointed when that show was over. Fraser, on the other hand, left you with a feeling of one chapter closing and another opening. Maybe it was the fact that they didn't hype Fraser as much as Friends and I wasn't expecting as much. Either way, kudos to the Fraser writers for a great show.

I was just reading
Melyssa's site and she had this link to this wonderful little
miniature scrapbook store. The detail is abolutely incredible! I love miniatures. I want to make a miniature craft room for myself someday. There's a great little store called
Norm's Dollhouse over at 7300 S. Colorado Blvd. that has some neat little miniatures. Of course, the ones I like are really expensive.
