Favicons in Linklist Gone

As much as I like the little favicons showing in my linklist (EE module written by Yoshi), I had to dump them. I'm tired of my page taking forever to finish loading if anyone's server in my list happens to be down. As I have no desire to save them locally on my own server, I'll have to do without. There is also some other errant code in my template from things I've put in there and then taken out and left straggling code behind. If (when!) I get my new design finished, I'll fix my code. I've never really coded my archives template, I realized. How long have I had this design? Geez. I've never done my about page. I've been such a slacker.

Moblogging?

Wow, I'm posting so much today, it's almost like Blogathon, part deux.

Because of the same reasons I lost track of the Broncos, I'm waaaaaay behind in my blogging technology. I'm hoping that as a result of a new job, I will get a camera phone. I keep hearing about moblogging and seeing moblog posts on people's sites (usually pics) and since I know it's a module within Expression Engine, I want to learn more about it. Is there a really good tutorial or explanation about it out there? What are you own personal experiences with using it? I'm starting to delve into the EE manual, the EE forums and such, but any additional help anybody reading this could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Buh-Bye Blogrolling

It's no secret that I hate Blogrolling. Luckily there haven't been as many problems as there was a year ago, but I wanted the recently updated feature and most times it doesn't work anyway. I still end up going through most of my links to see if anybody has anything new. So, I saw awhile back that Yoshi was working on an Expression Engine Linklist module. He finally finished and released it, so I took the time this weekend to download and try it. I need to figure out how to customize it to my liking, but now I no longer have to watch my site spin while it tries to load stuff from blogrolling.com! I like the little favicons showing up. I need to get off my duff and make one. I used to have one when this place was LaDonnaBlog. Oh, well...someday!

I started working on my design business web site yesterday. Marcus bought me a starter set of business cards. Hopefully I'll be up and running for business by next week. I really need to find a client. Most of the designers I've taked to say they get business by word-of-mouth. Unfortunately, you need clients to get clients! There are some things going on at the job that I really hate, but I've decided not to air work crap here. I will say, however, that I've got some confidence in my design ability now and it's time I start making what my skills are really worth.

I'm poor. It's been a long time since I've been this bad off financially. Marcus says it's the growing pains of escaping pizza and that things will get better. I need to make them better NOW. I don't have money for anything extra...like food. LOL This week I'll be getting rid of everything totally unnecessary on eBay to raise cash. In addition to the necessities in life, I was a vacation, I want to move, I want a monitor that isn't fuzzy, I was a faster Mac. All these darned things take MONEY!

The exercise regimine gets restarted this week. I haven't gained weight, but I am terribly out of shape. Desk jobs suck. I didn't realize how much exercise I got making dough, but a walk around the park with Marcus on Saturday totally kicked my ass! I was so sore yesterday, I could barely move--FROM WALKING! I guess it will be time to resurrect the old Loser blog, too.

OK, my lunch is over, so I had better find something to do here at work.

Hip Hip Hooray!

I've been obsessing about how to get my mood icons thing to work with Expression Engine. Like I've said in the past, I know just enough programming to get myself into trouble. I know what I wanted, I just didn't know how to do it. I already had a decent javascript array that I wrote to use with MT, but I didn't know how to call it into the EE configuration. I had put a all my html code into a custom weblog field dropdown, but the html characters were breaking it so that the choice wasn't saved if you went back to edit the post. I wanted to put the mood names into that dropdown and then pull the html code out of the array. Marcus just figured out how to do it for me, so Yay!!!!!! All I had to do was a flash intro for one of his sites. Now I can finally move onto something else!

Inline Extended Entry

I've been searching forever and finally found instructions on how to do extended (expanded, more and less) entries for Expression Engine. I just wasn't using the correct search terms, I guess. Anyway, here's the link for future reference.
