Brrrr

Current mood: cold bear cold
Well, I guess the weather people were right for once. We got just a little bit of snow in the last 24 hours. According to channel 4's web site, we had at least 16 inches in the Denver metro area by 8 pm. The weather guy on channel 2 just said snow totals double what we have now would not be out of the question. We're under a blizzard warning because of the high winds.

The weather yesterday was crazy: a tornado touched down by Byers, I got hailed on while I was delivering and torrential downpours caused street flooding and power outages. It started snowing last night as Marcus and I went to bed. By this morning, so much heavy, wet snow had fallen that the poor guy that delivers out milk got his dairy truck stuck in front of our house. He ended up having to chain up to get going. School was cancelled, the manager decided not to open the store today, so I had the whole day off!!! I ventured out for a bit. I had to get the snow shovel out of storage and get some groceries. I'm so glad I own an all-wheel-drive Subaru. I didn't have any problems getting around. In fact, I was plowing through snow drifts just to see if I could. Most of the accidents I saw while I was out were the result of the snow having covered up the traffic signals.

Marcus was made to go home from work about 2 pm. He got his truck high-centered on the mound of snow in front of our house made by the guy who plowed our street. I took some pictures that are posted here. We had so much fun after he got the truck free. We had a snowball fight and he kept throwing himself into snowdrifts.

They just closed I-70 from Denver to Limon. I'm so glad we don't live out on the plains anymore. The last time we had a storm like this, we got stuck sleeping at my Dad's apartment, didn't get to go home for two days and spent all that time worrying about the dogs.

Speaking of dogs, poor Skippy is having a rough time. He's a little chilly since I shaved his hair off over the weekend. If I had known this storm was coming, I would've put it off a little. He spent last night sleeping in our bed and he doesn't even want to venture outside.

Well, I just found out I don't have school tomorrow, either. WhooHoo! The manager is probably going to close the store, also. He said he'd let me know for sure tomorrow. Well, guess that's about it for now.

NO Way!

The weather guy on channel 2 is talking about the possibility of a storm hitting the metro area on Tuesday that could be as bad as the blizzard of '97. Ok, I know we need moisture because we're in a drought here and all, but please, not all at once! Especially not after a beautiful week of 70-degree weather. I hope it's just bored weather people hoping for something to do.

I Want a G4!!!

Current mood: angry bear frustrated
I've been drooling over the new dual processor G4's over on Apple's web site. I even tried to get a loan to get one. (Fortunately?) I didn't qualify for enough to get the one I want, so I decided to let it go. The last three days I kept missing calls on my cell from an area code in California. Today it rang while I was on my way home from school. "Hi, I'm XXXXX from Apple. I noticed you're were trying to purchase a G4 from out website........" I'd love to have one! Can you make it for free? I told him I'd have to put it off until later. Damn. Subaru is also offering 0% financing on the "new Baja." Damn, again. Why am I not made of money? Granted, money would not solve all my problems, but it would sure solve an awful lot of them!!!!

Found

I almost forgot to mention that Elizabeth Smart was found alive today (she was the Utah teenager kidnapped from her bed nine months ago). Yay, I'm sooooo happy for her and her family.

Freaks

Now I remember why I used to prefer making dough in the middle of the night--I was oblivious to the crap that goes on in the store between the people that work there. I've found out so much stuff this last week that I really wish I was still clueless about (all of a sudden I'm everyone's confidante). It makes my head hurt thinking about it all. Some of it also pisses me off, but there's nothing I can do about any of it. As long as the players are the same, the same dance will go on. I can honestly say that I'm lost any inkling of respect for anyone there. No wonder I've lost all motivation to do a good job. I must do well in school so that I can get away from all of those nut jobs.

I didn't get my project done before the deadline today in class, though. I guess that's what I get for blowing school off on Monday. I need to get a small portable hard drive so that I can bring my projects home to work on them. That so sucks that there is no way to do that now. I could've finished if I'd been able to work on it here. Oh, well. I'm doing so well otherwise that the points I'm going to lose won't kill my grade that much. The worst part was I found typos after I turned it in. There's no way to get an "A" with misspellings. Shit happens. I guess I've got a major case of spring fever or something, because I so just don't care about stuff right now that I should be caring about. I hate it when I get like that.

When I came home tonight (after work), I sat down here to read my email on the new ViewSonic monitor that I purchased this afternoon. Skippy was in my dark craft room whining. When I went in there, he started running back and forth between me and the front window. I looked and listened and couldn't find anything odd, so I chased him out and figured while I was up I'd go into the other room and check on the bunnies. Lo and behold, the door is open and one of the rabbits is missing. Guess where? You got it. She was in the farthest corner behind all the cabinets I've yet to get put back. What a pain it was to get her out of there. Of course, she didn't cooperate, either. I guess Marcus left one of the doors open last night when he cleaned their cage. Yay Skippy for alerting me to the problem!

Well, my body hurts, so I'm going to go to bed. I might read for a bit, though. That reminds me: We got our mid-terms back today, and my teacher marked a question wrong that said (true/false) "A bit is the same as a byte." I put false. I said, "Aren't there 8 bits in a byte? (There are.) So, they're not the same thing." He jokingly (I hope) says that I fail for showing up the teacher. Ha! He also didn't seem to find my comment amusing that I wrote in the margin about another question. It was a multiple choice that asked who provided the hardware for Apple computers. The three choices were a) Motorola, b) Dell, or c) Apple. Well, obviously it was c, but I noted that a was also partially correct as Motorola provides the processor. When I queried him later as to whether he found my comment humorous, he said the question asked about the hardware. Well, the last time I checked, a processor was hardware. It certainly isn't software. *sigh*
