A Baking Wish

You know what service would be really cool? A place where you could rent specialty baking pans.

I'm on several recipe mailing lists and I got an email for a really cool cake pan that I would love to have. It's from a company called Baker's Secret in the shape of those awareness ribbons.

The problem is: How many times would I really use this pan? Probably not more than once or twice. That's the problem with these novelty cake pans. I have a Winnie the Pooh one and a teddy bear sculpture one that I've used only once each. I don't know if I'll ever have use for them again, but I don't want to get rid of them, either. I've wanted to make special cakes for Marcus' birthday before (like a Scooby Doo head), but talked myself out of it because it would be a one-time thing and then it would take up space in my cupboards.

It would be great if I could just get them for the one time I needed it and return it.

Netflix SNAFU

I was expecting a movie that I wanted to see again called What the #$*! Do We Know!? to be in in my mailbox from Netflix for viewing this weekend. I had an email in my inbox when I got home yesterday that said they had received it back and was sending out the next one in my queue to arrive Saturday. WTF? How the heck did that happen? I'm guessing it got delivered to the wrong person and they sent it back. Anyway, not cool. So, instead of thought-provoking quantum physics type of entertainment, I guess I'll be watching Happy Feet instead. Yeah, I'm a little bummed about that. Oh, well.

Follow-Up Dental Appointment

Today after work I had to stop by the oral surgeon's office for a follow-up appointment. I'm doing fine except for normal healing pain, so I thought about canceling. I decided to go anyway just in case the insurance company would use that against me to deny my claim or something. Fortunately, it looks as it is supposed to and I wasn't charged for an office visit.

Ever since then, though, I have not been able to quit playing with the loose flap of gums. I think I started that while I was bored stuck in traffic. Gah!

I stopped and got myself a Frappuccino from Starbucks on the way home because it was hot, my face hurt and I needed a beverage to make the rest of the ride home. I stopped at that 24-hour one on Colorado Blvd. The employees were too busy socializing in there (I guess a shift change was happening) and the guy making my drink rushed through it. I had big huge ice boulders in it that kept clogging up my straw. I was not happy.

Blogathon is Coming

It dawned on me a couple of days ago that Blogathon 2007 will be here before I know it. The date this year is July 28th. They've already reopened the forums, so I'll be hanging out over there really soon. Unlike last year, where I decided to do it at the last minute after losing my job, I'm actually going to promote it and have a plan in place. They mentioned possibly having the ability to blog for multiple charities (I'd really like to do the Denver Dumb Friend's League in addition to Livestrong), so I hope that's the case.

Six Weeks Until the Final HP Release

HP Deathly Hallows CoverSix weeks! Wow, I was thinking this time was never going to come. I've been staying away from all things HP lately because it makes waiting harder, but today I gave in and went to Mugglenet. I picked myself up that neat little countdown for the top of the page there. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is coming out in a little over a month. w00t! I have a 101 in 1001 site that I haven't publicized much because I wanted to design it first, but one of my goals was to knit a Gryffindor scarf before the book arrives. Well........since I haven't learned to knit yet, not sure I'll make that goal. I think it's only a knit stitch. Maybe I can do it. I've got all the supplies.

Another cool bit of HP news that I forgot to mention recently is the theme park they're going to build in Orlando. I am so going to go see this place. I've always wanted to go to Florida.
