Pit

Yesterday I spent the whole day trying to clean off my desk. I've let stuff get so out of control, recently. I hadn't even reconciled my Visa card in three months. I've just been clearing out my receipts in my purse to a box on my desk. Yesterday the box was overflowing, so I figured I'd better clear it out. I had 4 months worth of bill payment stubs that needed to be filed. Man, what a mess. I figured it would take a couple of hours, at most. Six hours later I was still working on it. When I get home from work today, I need to go through the big pile of floppy disks that are scattered all around and label them. That was the bad thing about school -- Tons of stuff on floppies that I really don't need anymore.

The feed store didn't have any clippers. The guy said he could special order some cattle clippers, but they were too expensive. Oh, well. I'll try to return the broken ones to PetSmart today and if they won't take them back, I'll be bitching about it this afternoon.

As you can probably tell, I'm procrastinating about going to work today. Both stores have opening managers on Tuesday and Wednesday that I absolutely can't stand. It figures those are the two biggest dough-making days. Damn the head managers that write the schedules.

Marcus' folks will be here in a week. I'm starting to panic. It's supposed to rain/snow again at the end of the week. How am I supposed to get this house clean when the weather won't cooperate?

Ok, LaDonna, get your butt to work.

What Is Wrong With People?

What the hell is wrong with some people? This woman in Fort Worth, Texas hit a homeless man while strung out on Ecstasy, drove home with the man sticking out of her windshield, and left him in her garage to die. She did her boyfriend while the poor guy pleaded for help. Her "friends" then helped her dump the body. The chick was a nurse's aid to boot. The eight page Texas arrest warrent affidavit is here. I hope she gets the death penalty.

Ursa Killed the Clippers

Those stupid clippers I bought at PetSmart broke right off the bat. I hope they'll take them back. Marcus and I are trying to do as much as possible with the old ones. Each dog is about half done. They look so funny. Skippy's backhalf is all shaved and he looks like a lion. Ursa's got little shaved patches all over. Skippy has really fine, staticy hair and Ursa has really corse, thick hair. Both are a pain to shave. I'll go with the original plan of finding some clippers at the feed store tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to finish them up more quickly.

I'm totally pooped. I got up at 5 this morning and had 14 batches of dough to do. It's what I was expecting, but I was sure hoping (for once) that they'd be slow. Oh, well. I need the money.

After I make myself some dinner here (leftover steak fajitas from Thursday evening), I'm probably going to shower and go to bed early. I hope I can actually get something accomplished tomorrow. I'm tired of wasting my days off feeling ill and sleeping.

Friday Five

Friday Five

1. What makes you homesick?
Not being able to sleep in my own bed with Marcus and my dogs.

2. Where is "home" for you? Is it where you are living now, or somewhere else (ie: Mom & Dad's house, particular state/city)?
For the first time in a long time, where I'm living now actually feels like home. No place I've lived since my folks lost their house has felt like home until this. Even though living in a "modular home" in a park isn't permanent, the house is ours, not something we're renting and will be moving out of in a year. I'll also always consider Colorado home. I can't imagine living anywhere else.

3. What makes it home for you? People? Things?
It's home because it is where I am comfortable. It's a blending of everything -- Marcus, my pets, my belongings. It wouldn't be "home" if any one of those things was missing.

4. Where is the furthest you've been from home, miles-wise?
I'm not sure. How far is Hawaii from Denver, CO?

5. What are your plans for this weekend?
Same as usual. Work, work, and more work. Bleh! Hopefully Marcus will be available to hold down the dogs for some grooming.

Today: I Need A Do Over

Today totally sucked ass.

First I woke up stressed out after having some really bad nightmares. Then I had to drive to town in this totally dense fog. I had to deal with some dude at work that wanted to come into the store before they were open to work on the floors. He claimed he was there on behalf of the landlords. I told him I didn't have authority to let him in and he'd have to come back after 10 when the manager was there. Since I wasn't informed such a guy was coming, how was I to know if he was legit or if he was there to scope the place out to rob it or worse? He was a little ticked that I wouldn't let him in. Too bad.

After work I decided to head over to CollegeAmerica to take a look at the job board. It was snowing these weird little snowballs that felt like the styrofoam pellets in bean bag toys. Since the weather people said it was going to be a "light dusting" of snow today, I didn't think much about it. Of course, there are no jobs on the board. What else is new? I figured while I was in the neighborhood, I'd stop in at the JoAnn craft store up on Yale & Colorado. When I came out there was a full-fledged blizzard in progress! What the? Mike Nelson, the weather guy on KOA, says, "Oops, we goofed." Damn. I left the store at 2:30 and didn't get home until 5:45. What a disaster. I was so frazzled I stopped at a convenience store for about 15 minutes to use the restroom and relax. The roads totally sucked. No sand trucks, no plows, no nothing. Somebody died in a 30-40 car pileup on I-76. The accident list was absolutely huge. When I pulled up in front of my house, the storm was over, the sun was shining and there was even a rainbow in the Northwestern sky. I guess it really is true what they say about Colorado weather. If you don't like it wait a little, it will change.

So, here I am at home all alone. Marcus really wanted to go to the Apple store to get an upgrade for his Adobe Go-Live. I advised him to go tomorrow with the condition the streets were in, but he and his friend Mike are going anyway. So, I'll be in dreamland (hopefully not the same destination as last night) well before he gets home.

I picked up a new pair of dog clippers at PetSmart today. Why do replacement blades cost just as much as new clippers? I don't get it.

Well, I'm really tired. As soon as I do the Friday Five, I'm going to bed.
