Today’s Interview

Man, I'm getting the nervous jitters right now. It's taking everything I have not to chew my fingernails to bloody stumps. My interview is at 1pm. I feel like my whole future balances on the next few hours. I know I can do the job they are hiring for. I just have to convince them to give me a shot. The downer of it is that the initial hire period is part time. It seems that all design and prepress jobs are like that anymore. If I can get to full time, though, FULL BENEFITS after 90 days! Yes! I may have to do a night shift, but hey, I've done that for years. In fact, I do my best work after the sun goes down. I've been a night owl by whole life. WISH ME LUCK!

One a different note, I'm going to start my weight-loss blog this afternoon after I get back. Marcus set me up a subdirectory yesterday and I installed wordpress into it last night. My weight this morning was 294.2 lbs. I'm never going to be this fat ever again. I don't fit into any of my clothes. I hate shopping for clothes when I'm this overweight. A new job means I'll need new clothes, I want to get smaller ones. No time to start like the present, eh?

Angry Longwood University Students

It seems that several students attending Longwood University in Farmville, VA are irked at the treatment of current and past students by the school's administration. They've set up a wiki called Longwood University Sucks to try to force the administration to change its policies. While I admire their passion on the subject, I doubt such a move will inspire change. The only thing that talks is money. Only when enough students quit going to such schools and the tuition of remaining students no longer cover expenses will anybody bother to change anything. If these students really feel wronged, however, perhaps they should seek to file some sort of lawsuit or just quit wasting their money on that particular school.

Too Early For This

My neighbors over on the next street put up their Christmas decorations today. IT'S ONLY THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER, PEOPLE! I get to go by there everyday as they live on the street that accesses our cul du sac. Plus, they're right across from the mailboxes. Not cool. I can understand excitement over Christmas, but you shouldn't put stuff out until Thanksgiving weekend. As if living in a mobile home park isn't bad enough, you have to go and do that kind of crap. And people wonder why you get burned out on the holiday by the time Christmas comes. *sigh* I wonder if they're really going to light it all, too.

A Group of Crows

Marcus bought me a yummy caffeinated beverage from Caribou Coffee last night. They opened one up right up the street from us. It's in the same center as Chipotle, Spicy Pickle and soon-to-be Anthony's Pizza & Pasta. Anyway, there is always a "question of the day" at Caribou and if you know the answer, you get 10¢ off your purchase. Yesterday's question was, "What do you call a group of crows?" I knew it was something really bizarre, but I couldn't remember at the time. Marcus looked it up later and the collective noun for crows is murder. Yes, a murder of crows. Apparently, crows kill sick and dying members of their group. Who comes up with these names, anyway?
