I wish Lycos would stop messing around with their sites. I'm getting really tired of not being able to check my mail.

Current mood:
lethargic
Any wonder I'm feeling lethargic? I've had a whopping 10 hours of sleep in the last two days. WhooHoo! I want to go to bed, but I'm waiting for a package for Marcus to be delivered. He ordered Age of Empires II for Macintosh and the company shippped it via DHL. I didn't know that company made residential deliveries. Anyway, it came yesterday with no unit number, so the guy tried to deliver it to the office and the landlady was not home. They wouldn't leave it without a signature, so they're supposed to try again today. I rushed home from school (85 mph on the interstate in the wind kind of sucked) and have been waiting ever since.
Wow, it's starting to rain. I haven't seen that in awhile.
I've been a little sad thinking about my big dog, Ursa. When I went to pay the lot rent on Monday evening, I was shocked to see how badly the landlord's 12-year-old Bull Mastiff is looking. I just saw the dog a couple of months ago. She looked old then, but now the poor thing looks like a walking skeleton. I have a terrible feeling she's not going to make it through the winter. She's still really alert, though, and even brought me her rope toy to play with her. My poor big dog is 11. Marcus and I have had her 8 years. She's showing her age, too. Her legs give out on her with no warning and she's having a hard time on cold mornings getting moving, especially up and down the stairs to go outside. I hate the thought of not having her around. I'm trying to be more affectionate and give her lots of attention while she's here.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!

Today is my father's birthday. He's 66 years young today. Happy Birthday, Dad, I love you! (((HUG))) Wasn't I a cute little kid? I'm the brunette, BTW.
I'm not big into country music, but I arrived late to work on Saturday and the manager had already claimed the radio. He had on
KYGO. I didn't have that much to do that day, so I left the radio alone. This song came on and I was in tears. *sniff* Of course, nobody in the store knew the title or who sang it. Thanks to the internet, the artist is David Ball. A link to his official site follows the lyrics.
RIDING WITH PRIVATE MALONE
I was just out of the service thumbing through the classifieds
when an ad that said old chevy some how caught my eye
the lady didn't know the year or even if it ran
but I had that thousand dollars in my hand
It was way back in the corner of this old ramshackle barn
thirty years of dust and dirt on that green army tarp
when I pulled the cover off it took away my breath
what she'd called a Chevy was a sixty six corvette
I felt a little guilty as I counted out the bills
but what a thrill I got when I sat behind the wheel
I opened up the glove box and that's when I found the note
the date was nineteen sixty six and this is what he wrote
(chorus) He said my name is Pvt. Andrew Malone
if you're reading this then I didn't make it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of mine now it belongs to you
and though you may take her and make her your own
you'll always be riding with Pvt. Malone
Well it didn't take me long at all I had her running good
I love to hear those horses thunder underneath her hood
I had her shining like a diamond and I'd put the rag top down
all the pretty girls would stop and stare as I drove her through town
the buttons on the radio didn't seem to work quite right
but it picked up that oldie show especially late at night
I'd get the feeling sometimes if I turned real quick I'd see
a soldier riding shotgun in the seat right next to me
(chorus) It was a young man named Pvt. Andrew Malone
who fought for his country and never made it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of his back when it was new
he told me to take her and make her my own
and I was proud to be riding with Pvt. Malone
One night it was raining hard I took the curve too fast
I still don't remember much about that fiery crash
someone said they thought they saw a soldier pull me out
they didn't get his name but I know without a doubt
(chorus) It was a young man named Pvt. Andrew Malone
who fought for his country and never made it home
but for every dream that's shattered another one comes true
this car was once a dream of his back when it was new
I know I wouldn't be here if he hadn't tagged along
that night I was riding with Pvt. Malone
oh thank god i was riding with Pvt. Malone
