Almost Killed It

Hope everybody had a good holiday season and is having a good start to the new year.

Man, I had such a heart attack a couple of days ago. I thought I had killed this blog. With the holiday rush being over, I decided some website work might be a good use of time. I figured a quick upgrade to Wordpress 2.7 on this blog would be first and then I could move on to working on my template (never been satisfied with the look of this site) and installing some plugins, etc. Maybe even make a *gasp* post or two.

Yeah, that didn't go so well.

First, I couldn't even get the upgrade database script to show in the browser window. I reinstalled my old files and went about doing some research to see what I had done wrong. As I couldn't find a darn thing I tried again. OK, reinstalled the new files and got the upgrade database script to run. Couldn't log in. :(

I figured that since the database upgraded, there was no way I could just reinstall my old files and have my site work without putting my old database back. I was determined to figure out why this upgrade (which normally goes easy-peasy for me) did not work. I tried resetting my password through various methods. No luck. I deleted my cookies and cleared my cache per the forums. No luck. I played with permissions on my folders. No luck. I added suggested code to my pages. No luck. As it approached 1 am and I was to the point where I didn't care if I even had a craft blog anymore, Marcus suggested I try a different browser. I was able to log in with Safari. So I killed Firefox, deleted cookies and cleared cache once it opened and I was able to log in. What a pain. All of that brain damage and I only had a cranky browser.

Obviously, with all that, I never got around to posting or anything else. I was so perturbed that I just ignored it all yesterday.

I wish I could say I have been so busy knitting and crocheting that I have tons of FOs to show. Sadly, that is not the case. I've been in a bit of a funk. I did make a couple of things for a Christmas swap I did on Ravelry in early December. I'll post that in the next entry. Until yesterday, I don't think I picked up a needle or a hook for almost a month. Another Christmas has passed without finishing my Cranberry Popcorn garland. I did make significant progress on it before my funk set in, though. *sigh* Maybe it will be complete by next Christmas. Marcus also go me and iPhone for Christmas, so I've been a little busy playing with that.

I've joined a KAL on The Loopy Ewe Ravelry board to make the oh-so-popular Clapotis. I bought the yarn to make one months ago and have yet to cast on. I'd love to get started, yet I can't find the needles or the yarn at the moment. We were supposed to cast on on January 1st if we were able (I was working) and by January 31st at the latest. I guess I need to get started on that New Year's resolution to clean up the craft room first.

OK, I guess it's time to finish up and get back to it. The Christmas tree needs to come down today (I try to keep it up until the 6th in honor of my mother-she kept ours up because it was Epiphany and her birthday). I need to upgrade my other wordpress site. I have a graphic to make that I promised Marcus I would do today. Guess I'd better get busy!
