I got an interesting wake up call today. My Win2000 teacher gave us a pop quiz today and guess what? I know nothing. I knew my education was screwed up, I just didn't know how bad. It turns out that was what it was supposed to be, a wake up call. He didn't grade it, fortunately. I answered a whole 4 questions out of 15. He told us our study habits suck and he's right. Sad thing is, I had great study habits at the beginning. It just got pointless to study for tests that were multiple choice and straight out of from the back of the book. It was all I could do not to cry. I am in my fifth networking class and I don't know squat. I'm not going to be able to cram four months of stuff into 6 weeks. It ain't gonna happen. I don't know what I'm gong to do. I know I have got to make myself go talk to this new president. I've been screwed, not only financially, but emotionally as well. Maybe if I can get some sort of partial refund, I can teach myself or go to some other school.

I just want to say thanks a lot to all the Californians and Texans who moved to Colorado and drove housing costs so high that I, a native, cannot afford to live here. I make about $32,000/year (nothing to sneeze at) and I couldn't get a house on my income alone. How insane is that? I heard the other day that the median house price in the Denver area is now over $200,000! Even out on the eastern plains, where housing used to be cheap, crackerbox houses are going for better than $150K. When is this madness going to end?

Wow, how prophetic was yesterday's post? The school's president got fired yesterday. Whoo hoo! Apparently the suits I saw wandering around the school yesterday were from the head office in Utah. My teacher showed up today, but we're unsure as to whether we will have an instructor on Thursday (no school tomorrow with the holiday). Supposedly the president promised him the money he was asking for to teach our class, but now she's gone and the interim president won't stand by anything promised the the old one. Oh, boy. Is this like living in a soap opera, or what?
Cheerier note: The job on the board I mentioned yesterday doesn't require Novell knowledge after all. There are a couple of other jobs that the placement person would like to submit my resume for. Guess I'd better get busy and get that updated tomorrow.
My poor dad is having a tough time learning this computer thing. He ended up getting himself frozen out of his credit union account. I hope we got that figured out for him today. He's turning into quite the solitaire player, though.

I forgot to mention that while I was waiting for a teacher, I saw a posting on the job board for a seemingly cool job. I inquired about it and was told that I needed to know Novell. Well, Novell is not offered anymore. What kind of decent networking school doesn't offer Novell?
