Poor Guy

I had to stop by King Soopers this evening to pick up some things. It was crazy there tonight. It was 9:00 pm and there were lines, even for the self-checkout. I really miss being able to do my food shopping in the middle of the night like I used to when I worked pizza.

There was this poor dude in the feminine hygiene aisle on his cell phone talking to his significant other. She had obviously sent him without being specific. He was reading all the various brand names and types to her and not having much luck narrowing down what she wanted. I really felt bad for him. It's hard enough as a woman finding what you need in that aisle, what with them changing the packaging and the design of that stuff constantly. It must be mind-boggling to a guy who doesn't have to use them. It's kind of like sending a girly-girl to the hardware store to buy screws. I'm glad that in our 18 years together, I've never had to send Marcus to buy anything like that. He says he will never buy any and I don't want to have to test him.

Time to Clean This Site’s Code Up

I realized yesterday that I need to take some time and clean up my template. There is so much broken and incomplete stuff here that it is driving me crazy. Might be one of the reasons I don't blog as much as I'd like. I tend to avoid things on which I need to work. I intended to get rid of the double sidebar quite some time ago, but have yet to do it. There are some things in a text file on my desktop that I meant to add back to the sidebars when I last redesigned, but have yet to tackle that. Also, I need a wider content area to accommodate YouTube videos. That one I posted yesterday irks me that it is too wide and I can't do anything about it. I tried messing with it today, but I'm coughing too hard to really concentrate. Sadly, my coding skills are no longer second nature.

I fear we may have some rodents cohabiting with us (and I'm not talking about my rabbit). I was clearing some processed foods out of our cupboards and came across some stuff that had been nibbled. Not overly surprising with the construction going on around here, but something I need to nip in the bud before they breed in the walls. I'll be making sure the foodstuffs are in containers and I'll be better about keeping the bird seed swept up. I hate having mice in the house.

Well, better get to bed. I have to take the back way out of where we live. They've got Potomac St. totally blocked off this week while they connect up the new bridge. Totally inconvenient and adds 10 minutes to my commute.

Well, At Least I Voted

I voted today and it seems hardly anybody I voted for is going to win.

I'm a little bummed about that, but not surprised.

I wish the populace would wake up and realize that government is not the answer to their problems...they alone hold the keys to their success and failures. If anything, government is a hindrance to fulfilling the American Dream.

I saw a disturbing commercial when I was going through stuff on my DVR today. It was a Chinese man lecturing to students about the fall of great civilizations, the last being the United States. The scary part is it is all too true. I've long said that we are a superpower in decline.

NaBloPoMo 2010

*blows off dust*

National Blog Posting Month November 2010

So, November is National Blog Posting Month (or NaBloPoMo), where one posts on one's blog every day in the month of November. I haven't successfully completed one in a couple of years, but I'm going to give it another go this year.

Looking back over my last few posts, I haven't really had much to say. I'm thinking this is must the thing I need to get my blogging mojo back.

Tonight, however, I must go to bed. I've been battling a cold or something for the last two weeks. You know me, it takes me forever to get over something once I get it. It started out in the sinuses and moved into my upper chest. I don't feel horrible, I've just got tons of phlegm now.

New Yarn Store Open

When I was shopping at a yarn store that was rather far from me, the owner asked where I lived. After telling her Aurora, I lamented that I'm not really close to any yarn stores. The closest one is about 9 miles away and I don't care for that particular store much. The store that is actually in Aurora is 10 miles away and is kind of off my regular beaten path. Anyway, she told me that she had heard a store was going to be opening in either Lowry or Stapleton.

Well, I just read on Ravelry (an online knit/crochet community to which I belong) that the store is open! It's called Modern Ewe and is located at 200 Quebec in Lowry (6 miles from home according to Google maps). As I practically drive past there on my way to work, it is definitely convenient for me. Sadly, the store is not open tomorrow, but I'll be checking it out later in the week. I really hope it's a cool store and some knitting groups form there. As much as I love the group that I currently attend, sometimes I don't go because it's just too freaking far to drive.
