Well, I'm almost done with my pumpkin. I had a horrible sinus headache yesterday from that front that moved through, so I really didn't get as much done as I had hoped. Besides a couple of "oops" moments where I cut off some important parts, it does actually resemble what it is supposed to be. Hopefully, I can get a decent picture of it to post for everyone's viewing pleasure later this afternoon or early evening.

I'm in the middle of carving a pumpkin that Marcus bought for me yesterday. I hope it comes out like I envision. I'm trying one of those real people type carvings. If it comes out, you'll see pictures later today or tomorrow. If not, I'll be crying and pouting. (Just kidding, but I will be a tad bit upset.) I love grabbing pumpkin guts. That slimy coldness is kind of neat. Am I weird?

Marcus is fascinated with
katana swords. I think I first noticed his interest after the
Matrix Reloaded came out. There was definitely some impressive sword fighting in that movie. After
Kill Bill came out, though, I knew he was hooked. It seemed all he could talk about for weeks was how awesome of a sword the
katana was. He has even expressed an interest in getting a couple of
swords so that he can take classes to learn how to use them. Because of monetary issues, I haven't been able to get him one for a gift as I had intended to do back then. I'd still really like to surprise him with one someday. Maybe I could get him a
sword stand as well so that we could display it on our mantle. That would be cool.

A visit to
Leslie's page this morning reminded me how little time there really is left until Christmas (less than 13 weeks). I know I'm going to have absolutely no time to prepare once I become employed full time again (very soon—I'm thinking positively!). I've been wanting to make and send Christmas cards for years and I always put it off. Well, I'm gonna do it this year. If you'd like to have a Christmas card handmade by moi, leave a comment that you'd like one, but send your snail mail addy to me via email—the link is in the sidebar (domesticgeek [at] gmail [dot] com). I really don't want you guys putting your addresses in the comments, OK? I'll put a little reminder in the sidebar in my new layout. I'm really getting sick of this one.

Speaking of Christmas, I've got a gift idea for Marcus. He already knows about it because I had to ask him if he would actually wear this item if I got it. In the "
White and Nerdy" video I linked to last week, Weird Al is wearing two different White and Nerdy hoodies. He wrote on his myspace page that a hoodie will be available for purchase soon. I'm not sure which one they will offer, but Marcus said he'd definitely wear it if I got it for him. Yay!

Fall is in the air, the days are getting shorter, the new season of television programs are starting. This could mean only one thing—it's time to pull out the
halloween decorations! I love Halloween more than any other holiday, including Christmas. I was so happy when manufacturers started creating cool outdoor decorations. While not as large as the Christmas collection, I have several boxes of Halloween things. I'm always looking for unique items to add to my spooky stash. I have to have this
Ghost Tree Face. It glows in the dark and fastens to either side of an object to make the ghost appear to be moving through the object. How clever! There's another awesome decoration that you hang on a tree and it seems like a
Witch's Face is emerging from it. That site has a lot of cute things I'd like to have.
