Thursday Thirteen 82/21

Marcus' friend Brad is coming for a visit in a couple of weeks. Since I've been sick, I've really let the house go to pot. I figured I'd tackle two birds with one stone and make a list of things I need to do combined with my TT list. It's not very exciting, but here are:

Thirteen Things I'm Doing The Next Two Weekends

  1. Get packed away the rest of the Christmas stuff.
  2. Tile the backsplash in the guest bathroom.
  3. Clean carpets.
  4. Find homes for the last of the storage stuff.
  5. Do my taxes.
  6. File my papers.
  7. Clean the oven.
  8. Watch and return the movie Nina lent me.
  9. Tidy my craft room.
  10. Start my Hogwarts scarf.
  11. Dust.
  12. Replace the multitude of dead light bulbs.
  13. Work on new blog design.

Update: I'm going to strike through when I get something accomplished. Let's see how I do!

“Weird Al” Concert Tour

I signed up for "Weird Al" Yankovic's mailing list a while back. Today I got an email announcing his Straight Outta Lynwood tour. He'll be in Denver on August 31st at the City Lights Pavilion. I've seen him in concert before and I really enjoyed it. I hope I can get Marcus to go with me this time around. Maybe they'll sell White & Nerdy hoodies there and I'll finally be able to save enough money to get one.

Feeling Better Today

Sorry I was so down and dramatic yesterday. I hate it when I get like that and I just feel like crawling in a hole and hiding. Fortunately, I feel a whole lot better today. The snow we're having right now stinks, but at least I don't feel as depressed as yesterday. I'm definitely not looking forward to driving to work in the morning, though.

I finally found that book, The Ultimate Gift, that I wrote about a few days ago. I went to two separate Barnes and Nobles the day before yesterday and although both stores said they had one, neither clerk could find it. I stopped in at The Tattered Cover on my way home yesterday and I couldn't find it, either. The clerk pointed me to the Christian section. Hmmm, I wonder if that's where it is at B&N, too. I read a couple of chapters there in the store and I started bawling. I don't know how much was me being overly emotional anyway or how touching the story was, but I decided to go ahead and purchase the book right then. I had intended to just read it there and purchase it later on Amazon, but I wanted to finish it and didn't want to keep bawling in public. So far, it is a really good story. It's a fairly short little book, so I'll probably finish it up this evening. I can't wait to see the movie now.

There were promotional posters all over for the 7th Harry Potter book. I realized that I only have a little over four months to knit my Hogwarts scarf to fulfill one of my 101 Things in 1001 Days goals (goal #15, to be exact). I've got the supplies, I just need to do it! It's knitted in the round and I'm not quite sure how that works. I'm assuming you mark your rows the same as if you're crocheting in the round. I'll have to ask my friend Cass about that and see if she has any tips. I also need to design that site. That placeholder template I put up sucks monkey balls. I don't know why I've been putting off web design so much lately. I used to spend every waking hour tinkering with my site code. I hope that passion and desire returns soon. I miss it but I'm easily distracted lately.

OK, since the Thursday Thirteen has new owners and is going to continue on with no interruption, I'd better go think of a topic for this week. Be back in a bit.

Never Let Him Forget He’s a Man

I think it's a shame about the attitude a lot of women have these days about men. If you treat a man right and let him be a man, chances are he'll pay you more attention.

I'm amazed at the number of woman who absolutely refuse to wear sexy lingerie when they know their partner would truly enjoy it. Heck, back in my college days, I used to feel better about myself and quite sexy having something black and lacy on underneath my clothes.

The only bad part was having to browse through the store trying to find that perfect garment. I'm so grateful we have the Internet now so we can purchase things like baby dolls from the comfort of home. I was browsing through a site called Dimout.com and I was impressed by the wide array and selection of products they carry. They've got clothing, accessories, toys, gag gifts and a whole lot more. Since they sell plus sizes, I might have to get myself something pretty.

I wonder if my guy would wear these camouflage boxers?

Too Much

Marcus and I lost our third pet in less than two months early this morning. Brittney died sometime after Marcus went to bed and when I got up. I didn't write about Christina's death, but she died on the 10th. Something is wrong with Trinity and we're not sure how much longer she'll be with us. Pile all of that on top of losing Skippy and I've been a little bit of a mess. Actually, looking at those old web pages I made in my Into to HTML class make me really sad. Out of the 10 pets I had then, only 4 are left—three rabbits and the lovebird. Anyway, if I'm not around much the next few days, it's just that I am a little depressed and this whole blogging thing seems a little pointless right now.
