Well, we made it home with absolutely no problems. The highway was still closed when we tried to go home about 9:30 p.m., but the CDOT workers let us go home on the back highway since we were only going to Byers. We didn't know why the highway was closed as the wind was not that bad and I saw no evidence of snow. Watching the WB2 news last night, though, I know why they had it closed. Less than another 50 miles to the East, it snowed really bad. They were showing pictures of mud/snow drenched cars and huge piles of muddy snow. Amazing. Since there has been no moisture to speak of lately, all the farmer's fields are dust bowls. The high winds whipped up all that dust and combined with the snow to make it absolutely impossible to see. What a mess it created.
Well, I'm waiting to hear from Marcus. He's supposed to arrange for a tow truck to take my car to town. Since it hasn't started for four days now, I'm confident the mechanic will find what is really wrong with it this time. So, I'm stuck home all day. I'll have to venture over to the post office later and if the wind doesn't kick up too bad I'll try to get to the bank, too. I really need some more sleep, but I'm sure that the tow would show up just as I fell asleep or something.
I hate days like today. My to-do list is miles long, I know I should be doing something productive (since I'm always complaining that I never have time to do stuff I need to do), but I have absolutely no motivation to get anything done. This is a major problem when one only gets one day off a week. The first day off is usually resting from the work week and the second is the kick-ass, get stuff done day. I'm seriously thinking of calling in to work tomorrow if my car is not done so I can get some stuff done around here. We'll see.

I better not get stuck in town tonight. Dang it. I'm hanging here at Dad's place until Marcus comes to get me to go to Mike & Nina's. They're going to be playing Diablo. I hope we're able to go home after they're done. Just once I'd like to be on the other end of a closure. In the six years we've lived on the eastern plains, I've always been in town when the road closed.

Car is out of commission
again. I guess it didn't get fixed last friday. Dang it. I've got to figure out how to get my car to town on Monday so the mechanic can take a look at it. Why can I never have a car problem resolved the first time? I always end up with intermittent problems that won't show themselves to a mechanic. It's really aggravating. Marcus took me to town so I could go to work, but he wasn't coming home until really late tonight. I couldn't leave the dogs alone for 16-18 hours, so Dad lent me his car for the evening so I could get home and come back to town for work tomorrow. In exchange I'm going to do his taxes for him. Marcus can bring me home tomorrow as we are going to Mike and Nina's place to celebrate Nina's birthday.

1. What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for someone else?
Back when Marcus and I first started going out I used to do an evening right: tons of candles, nice dinner, romantic music, soak in the tub, backrubs, etc. Man, having different working schedules now really sucks.
2. [pardon the cosmo question] What are your erogenous zones?
Ears and neck.
3. How old were you the first time you had sex? Care to expound?
I did it once when I was 16 with a real creep of a guy. BIG MISTAKE! Didn't have sex again until I was 19.
4. What's the most unusual place you've ever had sex?
In a hot tub during a college friend's birthday party that got waaaay out of hand.
5. Do you have plans for Valentine's Day or is it just another Thursday?
It'll be just another Thursday, I'm afraid, as Marcus and I will both be working. Not even a new CSI on this week. We usually celebrate with a nice dinner out the weekend closest to Valentine's Day. So, that'll probably be next weekend.

The following poem from my
Lockergnome newsletter is dedicated to you, Dad:
A Computer Poem for Users Over 40
A computer was something on TV
From a science fiction show of note
A window was something you hated to clean
And ram was the cousin of a goat.
Meg was the name of my girlfriend
And gig was a job for the nights
Now they all mean different things
And that really mega bytes.
An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano.
Memory was something that you lost with age
A CD was a bank account
And if you had a 3-inch floppy
You hoped nobody found out.
Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for a while.
Log on was adding wood to the fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode.
Cut you did with a pocketknife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu.
I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
No one's been killed in a computer crash
But it makes their face turn red!
