Any designer who has been around a while hates certain fonts because of their overuse and their inappropriate use. One of these among the design community is
Comic Sans. In fact, I had a CSR last week suggest that as a font I should use for her client's cover. I gently had to steer her away from that particular font. That's why this
Achewood comic is so darned funny. [via

My friend Nina gave me a Harry Potter goodie bag today that she put together. It's the cutest little gift bag with the Hogwart's crest and she put pens, a couple of note pads and some sticky notes in it. Very thoughtful. Thank you, Nina!
I've got a week to read 2½ books. Probably not going to make it, but that's ok. I hope this next week goes fast!
Nina and I were on
Border's Media site today. There is a Snape action figure that I would love to have. Snape better be a good guy in the end, dang it! They also have Chocolate Frogs with collectible cards for sale. How cool it would be if the cards had little mini flash drives that played mini movies to replicate the moving wizard pictures, eh?

Wow, the excitement is starting to build. I have mixed feelings about the final book coming out. On the one hand, I want to know how this all ends. On the other hand, this all ends. I'm still predicting Dumbledore comes back ala Gandalf in Lord of the Rings. He's a Phoenix animagus, I think.
I really want to see
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix over at the IMAX theater over at Colorado Blvd. and I-25. It's supposed to be in 3D. That would be so cool. It's going to be a while though, because a check of Fandango and the showtimes when I could go are all sold out. I hope it stays there awhile.

As promised, I'm beginning my countdown to the delivery of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to my doorstep on Saturday, July 21st (well, to my community mailbox anyway).
I'm dying to see if any of my predictions about the final book are valid. After the last fiasco of waiting for UPS when it was really coming USPS, I'm ready this year. Hopefully the mail will come early and I can read all day that Saturday. I really wish we had cooler release party events around here. I've been reading about some of the more spectacular ones and it makes the ones here locally seem really lame. Oh, well.
I guess I'm not going to get my Hogwart's scarf done since I've yet to learn to knit, huh? Whoops! Well, maybe by the time the movie comes out for book 7? Yeah, that's the ticket!

I was rebooting my computer today because it was acting a little funny and I noticed something funky about my monitor. It appears there is some sort of burn in or something along the top. It's not because I don't use a screensaver, either. Damn it! Luckily Marcus purchased a two year warranty for the thing, so I hope they'll either fix or replace it. It's not really in the way of anything as it's at the top where the menu bar is, but still...it's a freaking expensive Apple display. *sigh*
Edit: OK, after some research, we're wondering if it is caused by the magnetic iSight stand I have on top of my monitor. We'll see if not using that stand near the monitor for a bit fixes things.
