And We Don’t Even Live In Amityville

My friend Traci (an old UNC college drinking buddy) called me. I haven't seen her since.........I can't remember when, actually. I know the last time we talked she was hanging Christmas lights. Dang, time flies when you're having ???FUN???? Anyway, we're getting together for dinner and mini-golf on Friday. I can't wait. Man, I've got to get her up in the My Friends section of the About Me page. I have so much I want to do with my actual web site and no time. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Someone wants to look at the house again tomorrow. Figures, I'm in the middle of trying to clean carpets. Well, they'll be OK unless they sit on the floor or take their shoes off. I guess they live here in Byers somewhere. Marcus gets nervous when people from around here look. He doesn't like it when people come in and see what kind of things we own and then can tell when we're not here. Unnerving. I'll be glad (IF/WHEN) this place sells and then have one less stress to deal with.

I was looking at big screen TV's at Soundtrack today. Man HDTV is so cool. The thin plasma monitors ($13,000+) were pretty neat, also. Oh, to win the $200 mil powerball jackpot (eyes staring off dreamily.....)

I've noticed the flies are thicker than ususal this year. No matter where I am, work, school, home, McDonald's, in my car, there are flies dive-bombing my head. It's truly annoying. At least they're not mosquitos.

Oooh, a Manwich commercial on television. The "what to fix for dinner dilemma" is solved!

Well, back to the carpets.

Who Moved My Cheese?

Well, they're supposed to be offering two classes next module that I really want to take--Unix 3 and Win2k Server. I don't know if there will be instructors yet or if I will learn anything. We'll see. The new module starts on Monday. I went in to see the president of the school today. I was in her office two weeks ago venting my frustration and concerns about their stupid school. She told me to give her a few days to come up with some sort of plan to address everything and lent me a book to read called "Who Moved My Cheese?." Well, it was a good story. Really made me think, however, she didn't come up with squat. I don't even thinks she remembers that she was supposed to come up with anything. She remembers giving me the book, but that was about it. Man, I can't wait to get out of there. I asked her if it was mandatory that you put in the clock hours that they claim you need if you're on financial aid. I've missed so many hours these last couple of months. If they're not offering Cisco in October, I don't want to be there past the end of the next module. She didn't even know what I was talking about and would have to check in to it. Oh, boy, can't wait to see what kind of response I get to that.

My Site Is Sucky

I broke one of the carndinal rules of web design when I didn't check my blog to see how it looked in other browsers. I just viewed it in Netscape and it looks yucky. SO, to anyone using Netscape, I'm sorry. It looks a whole lot better in IE. If anybody actually reading this uses another browser, email me and let me know. I'd like to get some other browsers to see how things look with them.

Chex Mix + Computers = Bad

Computer hint #215 - Don't eat Chex Mix while using your laptop!
I spent a good hour this morning trying to get pieces of Chex cereal out from under my keys. Smooth move. The stupid L key didn't want to go back on.

I saw "Rush Hour 2" yesterday with Marcus and our friend Mike. It was really good. I've liked every Jackie Chan movie I've even seen. I resisted watching Jackie Chan movies, as I thought they were the same as any other martial arts movie (I can't stand them). Not too long after we starting hanging out together, Marcus inisisted we rent one and I relented. I've been hooked ever since.

I Want My MTV Back

Wow, pretty much wasted the whole day. Went to work, came home, watched part of the Tough Enough marathon on MTV that Marcus was watching, napped until 6 p.m., went to store, made dinner, watched some VH1 Classic on the free Dish Network 150 preview and now here I am, needing to go to bed because I have to get up at 4 a.m. to go to work again. I live such an exciting life. The people who were supposed to look at the house cancelled. Oh, well, at least the house is cleaner than it was.

Watching VH1 Classic and the recent MTV 20th Anniversary specials made me yearn for the old days of MTV. Today's MTV lineup seems to be all reality young adult shows--Tough Enough marathon, Road Rules marathon, Real World, etc. I miss actual music videos. Not the hip hop crap that's on sparingly now. I miss Beavis and Butthead. I miss the Remote Control game show. Even VH1 never plays music videos. It's "Behind the Music" all day, every day. VH1 used to do Christmas videos all day Cristmas Eve and Christmas Day. They didn't even do that this last December. Losers. I miss the 80's. I'm so glad I got to go to college in the 80's. My college roommate Angie and I used to be a metalheads (Van Halen, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Ratt, Ozzy, Bon Jovi, Poison, etc.). Oh, those were the days. I used to have really big teased permed hair. The drinking age was still 18, so there were 3.2 dance bars that had quarter pitcher nights. Those rocked. *sighing, with fond memories*
