850 KOA's The Sports Zoo cracked me up on the way home. They're talking about the way women think. Scott started this out by relating how his wife had decided she wanted a new comforter for the bed. After bringing home a new comforter, it didn't match the existing furniture, wallpaper, drapes, etc. and she wanted to change everything. A man called in and told how his wife put up a wallpaper border in the bathroom and then got the matching towels. When he went to take a shower, she told him not to use the "new towels." What was the logic of that? Susie ageed with the wife because the new towels were "show towels." This reminded me of Marcus' mom. One summer day when she called to chat she was telling Marcus about how the fleas in the basement were biting everyone and they were miserable. Marcus asked why they were in the basement. Watching television. Why were they down there and not watching it in the living room? They just go a new sofa. So why can't you sit on the new sofa. It's a show sofa. They also didn't spray to get rid of the fleas because it cost too much money. Wha???

Our whole unix class is ready to pop a blood vessel in the brain. We're doing this lab today and nothing is working right. We're supposed to configure a pop3 mail server and we don't have a clue what we're doing. We're also supposed to be a dhcp server, but the teacher has us configuring something wrong and the daemon won't even start. I'm so lost. I'll have to do some studying this weekend and start fresh on Monday. The only good news is the dns server on my machine is working. Yippee.
I drove all the way to work this morning for nothing. I get there and there is a note for the Shamrock food delivery guy that one of the walk-ins is broken and he has to put all the food in the dough cooler. I can't make dough because there is nowhere to put it. You know, a phone call would've been nice. When the owner got there he says, I couldn't call you because I don't have your phone number. I informed him that both my home and cell numbers are on the phone list at the other store if he had bothered to call over there. Then he says, well, it was 11 p.m. and I knew you'd be asleep. Fine, so leave a message on my machine and on my cell and then I would have gotten the message when I got up. Then I could've stayed home and done something productive or else gone back to sleep and gotten some much-needed rest instead of being so angry at the insensitivity and thoughtlessness of the jerk I work for. I also would not have had to drive on the dark, snowy interstate. It's not like there are places I can go to hang out before my class at six in the morning. ARGH! I also mentioned to the owner that since there was no food in that walk-in, now would be a great time to scrub everything down and make it nice and clean. He replies, "Well, it's not really that bad in here." I work with pigs (oink, oink).
Well, I found out why the package wasn't delivered yesterday. When Marcus got home from work, he called the delivery company and they said the sender had requested the package back. Turns out Marcus had called the game company and asked why they shipped it without a complete address and why it wasn't sent regular mail to our PO box. The guy said he'd look into it and call him back. Since he didn't get that call, he figured the guy had blown him off. Instead, the company had the shipper return the one that would've been delivered yesterday, I didn't get to go to bed early like I wanted, and Marcus is still waiting for his game. Whoohoo. Man, I hope it's in the mail when I get home or Marcus is going to pop a vessel.
Ok, I'm going home now.

Stupid delivery guy never showed up. I'm so glad I wasted all this precious sleeping time waiting.

I wish Lycos would stop messing around with their sites. I'm getting really tired of not being able to check my mail.

Current mood:
lethargic
Any wonder I'm feeling lethargic? I've had a whopping 10 hours of sleep in the last two days. WhooHoo! I want to go to bed, but I'm waiting for a package for Marcus to be delivered. He ordered Age of Empires II for Macintosh and the company shippped it via DHL. I didn't know that company made residential deliveries. Anyway, it came yesterday with no unit number, so the guy tried to deliver it to the office and the landlady was not home. They wouldn't leave it without a signature, so they're supposed to try again today. I rushed home from school (85 mph on the interstate in the wind kind of sucked) and have been waiting ever since.
Wow, it's starting to rain. I haven't seen that in awhile.
I've been a little sad thinking about my big dog, Ursa. When I went to pay the lot rent on Monday evening, I was shocked to see how badly the landlord's 12-year-old Bull Mastiff is looking. I just saw the dog a couple of months ago. She looked old then, but now the poor thing looks like a walking skeleton. I have a terrible feeling she's not going to make it through the winter. She's still really alert, though, and even brought me her rope toy to play with her. My poor big dog is 11. Marcus and I have had her 8 years. She's showing her age, too. Her legs give out on her with no warning and she's having a hard time on cold mornings getting moving, especially up and down the stairs to go outside. I hate the thought of not having her around. I'm trying to be more affectionate and give her lots of attention while she's here.
