Where Do They Go?

Current mood: bearmood — curious confused
I don't understand. Every year I buy extension cords, it seems and every year I can't find any of them when I'm trying to decorate. Are there relatives of the underpants gnomes that make profit from these cords? Hmmm.

Also, where did the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas go? I just threw out some Thanksgiving leftovers to make room for the Christmas feast. Seems like I was just shopping for Thanksgiving yesterday. Oh, and I still haven't done my Christmas shopping yet. I'll be on my way as soon as the cheesecake comes out of the oven.

I Just Don’t Know!!!!

Current mood: bearmood — scared panicked
OK, I exchange presents with my friends the day after tomorrow and I have no clue as to what to get for any of them. What sucks is I don't have the funds to get them what I really want, either. *sigh*

That Was Disappointing

Current mood: bearmood — sad disappointed
Well, I went to the Christkindl Market. That was more of a ripoff than the Renaissance Festival. Sorry, but I am not paying $5 for a brat. There wasn't even anything cool to buy. I wish I had stayed home and put up my decorations. Oh, well. At least I went and know what it was all about. It was kind of sad to see how run-down the 16th Street mall has become. I guess the last time I was down in that area was in the late '80s before the Pavillions was even built. There was a jazz quartet playing there as I left and I believe I went to UNC with three of the guys. Sadly, I can't remember any of their names (I graduated in '90, afterall). It's nice to see that some of the people I went to school with are still playing. I wish I was.

Hooray Beer!

Current mood: bearmood — happy amused
I was watching a little television last night as I was trying to drift off to sleep and a Red Stripe Beer commercial came on. I love the radio ads, but had never seen one on television. It was so bizarre! They were talking about stuff they were trying to sell, including this one guy's mustache. Sure enough, on the site, there are links to the items being sold on ebay! Genius! Even though I don't drink beer much, I want to go buy some Red Stripe now.

What the (Bleep) is Biscotti?

Current mood: bearmood — working busy
Sorry, I've had no time to post lately. Since I've been mostly working and making a little cash, I'm not going to complain (much). Yesterday sucked a little. I was finally to the point at work where I had all available dough trays filled. I even went in a little early yesterday to stay caught up. When I get there, the water is turned off, the back of the store was a disaster and I couldn't do any work. They didn't drain the lines when they turned the swamp off, so with the freezing temps of late, end result is broken water pipes. Of course, this happens on the busiest lunch rush of the year (teachers that can't teach bribing kids with pizza on the last day before winter break--peeve of mine that I'm sure I've ranted about before). A quick phone call from the manager saying, "Hey, why don't you stay home since you can't do any work here" would've been really nice. Argh!

There was no way to run home and get back in time to drive with Friday rush hour traffic. I toodled down to Paulino Gardens and picked up some poinsettias. I got four plants for $10. Not too shabby. To me, it's just not the Christmas season unless I have a live poinsettia. Weird, I know. I saw this cool arrangement there where they had taken several varieties and planted them in the same pot. Very pretty. I'm going to try that with the ones I bought. Every year I try to save them so that I can get them to rebloom the next year and every year I manage to kill them. This year will probably be no different, but hey, I've got to try. Traditions.

I'm curious. On "Everybody Loves Raymond," the family members fight to get the last one when Marie makes biscotti. I saw some in jars last weekend at the Atlanta Bread Company (we actually got to try the soup!). What is it and is it any good? I wasn't really willing to spend $3 for a piece only to find out it was totally nasty.

I saw this really neat quote on someone's blog the other day and had to post it before I forget it:
Always do what you want, and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

-- Dr. Suess
Has anyone heard the song "The Christmas Shoes" by a group called Newsong? I guess it came out in 2000 or something. Well, I never had until the day before yesterday. I was listening to holiday music at work on KOSI and after listening to that song, I was bawling like a baby. I guess the song is based on a book and they turned it into a movie on CBS this year.

I guess Lockergnome Chris Pirillo and his wife, Gretchen, have split up. That was a bit of a shock to me.

I'm going to the Christkindl Market I wrote about earlier tomorrow (last day of the event, so I'd better go!). Tuesday I'm going to Wildlights at the Denver Zoo with Mike and Nina. Add work, decorating, baking and present-shopping (I've bought absolutely nothing to date) to that list and I'm going to be veeeerrrry busy the next few days.

Well, I guess that is all I wanted to post about for now. I'd better get to work since I've got a lot of dough to do today.
