Domestic Geek

We celebrated Marcus' 31st birthday today. His birthday was actually on the 6th and since he refused to have the party prior to his birthday ("Why do I want to celebrate getting old before my birthday?"), we had it today. Mike, Nina, Dave, Marcus and I started out at Chipotle for one of Marcus' favorite foods, burritos. Then it was back to our house for gifts and ice cream cake. Yum. Marcus received a Silver Nissan 350z Zip Zap from Mike/Nina and they played with their cars for over six hours. In the meantime, Nina and I watched Finding Nemo, The Great Mouse Detective, Average Joe, Saturday Night Live and Law & Order: SVU.

I got Marcus a George Foreman Baby George Rotisserie, so I guess Marcus is making dinner tomorrow. Whoohooo!

I pulled a bonehead move today. When I got home from work, I was a little hungry and Marcus said that we were going to start birthday stuff between 3 and 4, so I start a pot of water to hard-boil some eggs. Marcus decided to take a nap and I took off to get his present. I stopped at King Soopers to get some soda and remembered that I left the stove on. I had to call Marcus and wake him up so he could turn the stove off. Stupid!

Anyway, I need to work in the morning, so I'd better get off to bed.

I just knew this woman was lying about having lost a winning lottery ticket in Ohio. Even if she had bought the ticket, too bad. How mental do you have to be to take something this far and think you can actually get away with it? Shame on the lawyer who took her case, too. It's amazing what greed drives people to do.

Man, these new birth control pills I'm on suck ass. On my last prescription, 3 to 4 days after the last pill, period started. These new ones take 5 to 6 days. Let me tell you, I was a little panicky yesterday. I was never so glad to feel a cramp as I was this morning. I wish I could take that Seasonale pill. It's the one where you have 84 consecutive pills before you take a week off. Since there is no way to turn off the reproductive stuff for good without surgery, I could deal with only four periods a year. I'll ask how much it costs when I go in for my annual later this month, but I doubt I can afford it.

Damn, it's 0?F outside right now. I guess it's supposed to drop to five below or colder.

Words of advice: If you order pizzas on a night when it's this cold out, don't say to your driver, "You must be cold" or "Try to stay warm" or complain about being cold yourself. I'm standing on your porch waiting for your ass to come to the door. Yes, I'm cold. If you really wanted me to stay warm, you wouldn't order pizzas and make me stand on your porch. You're in a warm house. I have no sympathy if you're a little cold while you're opening the door to get your pizzas. Lastyly, does no one in this town own a freakin' snow shovel? It snowed two days ago and every sidewalk and driveway is still covered in snow and ice. Geez.

I'm going to go get in my warm bed with my dog and read my "Lord of the Rings" book I got for Christmas.
