While surfing around some Thursday Thirteen sites, I noticed a big theme this week is Back-to-School. My most favorite back to school commercial is for Staples, featuring Alice Cooper:
I've often wondered why schools make parents purchase school supplies. There is enough money (don't let them make you think otherwise--fire a couple of useless administrators) that schools could purchase this stuff in bulk cheaper than parents can buy it for and dole it out to students as needed. Does a company expect its employees to provide their own pens, crayons or copy paper? NO! Anyway, don't really want to get off on a tangent about what I feel is wrong with the public school systems.
He's a Live-In Systems Administrator. Do you have any idea how much headache it saves having his wealth of knowledge at my fingertips?
He's a kid at heart. One of the reasons I don't yet feel 40 is because he's around.
He doesn't play emotional mind games. He tells me what he thinks. I can take it or leave it.
He picks interesting pet names for me. For instance, I've been on a yellow/black craze since I got my Baja. It's yellow/gray/black, my bike is yellow/black, my new biking gloves are yellow/black...you get the picture. His new name for me is "Bumble D" (D is for Donna). Get it? Cute, huh?
He's tough on the outside, but a softie on the inside (you should've seen him with our baby bunnies!).
He doesn't mind doing laundry or the dishes.
He puts up with my horrific mood swings.
He has incredible patience when trying to teach or explain something to me that I want to learn.
We never run out of things to talk about. It's been 14 years and we can still talk for hours.
He's a dog person.
Our lives may suck at times, but it's never been boring.
He does his best to support me in whatever it is I want to do.
The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Be sure to update your Thirteen with links that are left for you, as well! I will link to everyone who participates and leaves a link to their 13 things. Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!
“Talk is cheap. You can talk about doing something forever, but until you make an inner and outer commitment and take action to do the thing you're talking about, you're simply teaching yourself and others not to believe a word you say.” —Iyanla Vanzant
