My Old Dog

So, earlier I talked about my rabbits. Now I'm going to tell you about my old dog, Skippy.

Marcus and I got Skippy about six months after we moved in together in May 1993. I didn't want to get a dog as long as we lived in an apartment, but he talked me into it. Marcus looked and looked for a dog, but I kept telling him that this particular dog had already picked Marcus. He was about a year old, they said, and had been dropped off by owners that had moved. We got him from the Denver Dumb Friends League, a organization I had considered blogging for this year. We believe a man had abused him, as he was afraid of most men, especially those with facial hair. He had been an outside dog and his name was Lumpy. Well, we got him and his cage-mate, a Samoyed mix that I named Beau Beau. Marcus changed his name to Skipper (Marcus' nickname at work at the time was Gilligan), we went throught a harrowing housebreaking experience and we ended up with one of the dorkiest, sweetest, most loveable dogs ever. Thirteen years later, he's an old man, now. He can't see or hear well, he gets confused and has trouble going up and down our stairs. I don't know how much longer the poor old guy will be around. I know I'm really going to be broken up when he leaves us.

Groan

Man, I wished I could've gotten a nap in yesterday afternoon. If I stay awake until 10 pm tonight when this finishes, I'll have been up for 37 hours. I'll have been up 24 hours in another half hour. I'm hoping I can get a nap in this afternoon and Marcus can cover a couple of posts for me. I'm not sure how many of us Sabbath schedule bloggers there are, but not many. Without many other blogs to follow, or Blogathon forums to read, or Blogathon radio to listen to, I'll have more time to write some content in my posts (maybe).

So, congratulations to all of the regular Blogathoners that made it!

Don't forget, you can still Sponsor Me! I'll be posting another 16 hours. I'd really like to get to $200, people!

The Last Game

Here's the last blogathon game for this year:

Even though I've more or less only just begun by blogging on the Sabbath schedule, Yes, I will most definitely do this again next year! Despite all of the complaining and moaning I've done on my blog in the past, I know I am blessed more than most and if I can use my blog outlet as a vehicle for making the world even a tiny bit better, then it is my duty to do so. Besides, I've met some new people and had a lot of fun, to boot! The Blogathon organizers rock!

Why I Like the Blogathon

It's getting light outside. I've actually made it a third of the way through. You regular scheduled blogathoners only have an hour to go. You can do it!

Besides the obvious reason of raising money for charities, I love the blogathon for a couple of other reasons.

First, I find some new reads to add to my link list. It's difficult to find new reading material and my list gets a little stale from time to time (nothing against anyone on my list—I know my site gets boring after awhile).

Second, I get to learn of technologies or services out there that I normally wouldn't bother with. The cam feed though stickam.com, for instance. If I hadn't seen it in use on both Yoshi's and Weblog Design Studios, I never would've tried it out.

Confession Time

OK, I'm going to confess something and I hope you all don't think less of me for it. One of my guilty pleasures is reading H@rry P0tter smut. Once in a while, I read stuff over at Adult Fanfiction. I'm partial to Hermione/Snape or Hermione/Draco pairings, probably because they're such unlikely pairings in the "real HP world". I mean, a Gryffindor with a Slytherin? LOL

On a serious HP note, I'm am in total withdrawl. Book six just made it into paperback this last week. J.K. Rowling hasn't listed any kind of timeline yet for the release of book 7. There are rumors it will be out next summer, but I doubt it. I WANT BOOK 7 NOW, DANG IT!!!
