In the Ghetto

The day before yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley. His daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, made a video duet with her deceased father (ala Natalie/Nat King Cole) to the tune "In the Ghetto." It was done very well. I may have to get this song...it and the video are available on iTunes.

Van Halen Reunion

Van Halen announced this week that they will be going back on tour with former front man David Lee Roth beginning in September. If a date is announced for Denver, I'm going to go. All shows that have started ticket sales are sold out.

I'm not sure how good they will be as they haven't toured together in decades and former bassist Michael Anthony has been replaced by Eddie's son Wolfgang. This will probably be the last round for these guys, so I'd better see them now.

I've seen the "Van Hagar" version of Van Halen a few times, but never with DLR. I totally hated that incarnation with former Extreme vocalist Gary Cherone. That's the one VH album I refused to purchase.

I was a huge VH fan in the '80s and early '90s. I had all their albums on vinyl and the very first birthday gift Marcus ever got for me was all of their CDs. Awww, how sweet.

Statetris

Oh, no...I think I'm addicted. I've always loved Tetris and Tetris-like games. I've been playing this cool little Internet flash game called Statetris. You have a map of the United States and you get to place the falling states. Fun stuff!

Psych

I'll be perfectly honest here about a couple of things.

First, I am not missing having the gazillion Dish stations at all. I thought I'd go through a little withdrawal or something, but I didn't. I'm amazed at how much time and energy I wasted on absolute garbage. There are many days now that I don't even turn on the television.

Second, Psych is becoming one of my favorite shows. When I first saw the preview for it last year, I thought it would be really dumb. A fake psychic detective. Um...yeah. I gave it a chance, though, because it was on the same night as Monk. I was pleasantly surprised. The show is hilarious. The chemistry between the two main characters, Shawn and Gus, is amazing. Yay that, unlike The 4400, their episodes are actually on iTunes.

This brings me to my next point — I need more iTunes gift certificates. I've just used up all the ones I've gotten as gifts or won and I need more to get my Psych episodes through iTunes. Your mission is to sign up as my Blingo and/or Winzy friend and win stuff so I can win, too. Click the buttons in the sidebar, please. It's literally a win-win since you'd win stuff, too.
