Make it Stop NOW!

I've had it with snow. I don't want to drive in it anymore. I'm tired of weather people making stuff up. Where are you Spring? How cruel that you tempted me with warm temperatures and melting snow just a few days ago and then make me scrape windows and take over an hour to get to and from work today. I'm tired of how stupid it makes other drivers. The snow is still here from mid-December. It's Denver...that is so rare here. I want to get my Christmas lights down. Is that all so wrong?

Blizzard Photos

OK, as promised...there are photos from this morning over in the Holiday Blizzard 2006 gallery. Dave came over and he and Marcus are out traipsing around town to see what's going on. My cramps are yucky today (they always get worse when it gets cold), so I may spend the afternoon on the couch curled up with a heating pad.

The Plow is Stuck

Marcus vowed he would make it into work at some point today. Well, the park's plow is stuck outside our house. Marcus is out there now trying to help the guy get unstuck. It doesn't help that the poor plow truck needs some serious work. The fuel mixture is definitely too rich — I can smell it. The thing keeps flooding out. With all the money the park owner has, you think they could get the plow repaired. So help me, if he piles all of that snow up right behind my car, somebody is going to die.

Links of the Day 11/29

Dang, tomorrow is the last day of November! This month just flew by. Except for today. A 65 minute drive to get 18 miles to work just sucks. Stupid snow. Stupid people who don't know how to drive in snow.

Since I'm freakin' freezing (it's 13°F and quickly dropping) and I feel like doing nothing besides sitting on this couch wrapped up in my quilt, I present links to cool, stupid or interesting stuff I've been meaning to post and just haven't yet:

A Real Simpsons House — don't know why, but it's kind of cool.
Adultitis — how to find out if you suffer from it and how to treat it.

Well, shoot...I had more than that on my brain when I started this post. The dog keeping me awake all night has messed with my brain. I'll add more later as I think of them.

It’s Gonna Be Cold

It's going to be yucky cold most of next week. Looks like tomorrow is going to be the warmest day of the week. Boooo! I am so not looking forward to this. I absolutely hate being cold. Figures that there is snow in the forecast when I wanted Marcus to help me get the outside lights up next weekend. *sigh* Oh, well.

Spring Blizzard 2005

Wow, we got a little bit of snow yesterday. We got well over a foot here in Aurora. When Marcus came to bed at 4 a.m. Sunday, he told me it was just raining, so I decided to sleep in for another hour. By 5:30, I had 3–4 inches of snow on the car. Power kept blipping out at work. It took me well over an hour to get home on the side streets (between the blinding snow and the totally covered Southbound traffic lights). I was amazed at the amounts of dumbasses out driving without their headlights on and without cleaning the cars off. Cleaning a one foot section so you can see out the windshield is totally unacceptable. Oh, and if you're afraid to drive more than 5 miles per hour, STAY HOME!

When I got home, I rousted Marcus out of bed so that we could hit the grocery store. We had absolutely no food here. He wanted bagels for breakfast, so we head out for Einstein Bros. and they were closed. He was disappointed, but least Marcus was having fun driving around in his truck. Traffic around I-70/Airport/Pena Blvd. was at a standstill. Several semis and busses had slid off the road or jack-knifed and were totally blocking the highways and ramps.

Marcus wanted Starbucks and they were open, but we decided to grab the groceries first. By the time we had finished, though, Starbucks had closed. Marcus was soooooo mad. We went home and he was complaining about needing his Starbucks fix. We decided to take the new vehicle out because Marcus needed gas to get to work in the morning and he wanted to see how it handled in the snow. We figured that while we were out, we'd try another Starbucks. I took some pictures of him and Skippy out in the snow. You can see them here. Of course, by this time, almost everybody had closed up. The shopping center at Abilene/Alameda looked like a ghost town. After he got gas, we went home and Marcus had to brew his own coffee. Poor baby.

I don't know if they closed the place where I work yesterday or not. As usual, I got absolutely no phone calls from anybody. I know there were no school orders this morning because I was watching the school closings last night before I went to sleep and their districts were listed. I still got a small bump of excitement when I saw Platt on the closing list until I realized I don't go there anymore. *sigh* I don't really want to go to work if they were closed yesterday because there won't be anything to make. I can't call until 11, because nobody answers the phones until then. That's another pet peeve I have about that place. Even if the phone rings at 10:58 and all work is done and everybody is standing around picking their noses, you can't answer the phone. Losers. Anyway, it would be really nice if the manager would call and tell me not to come in, but I'm not holding my breath.

I just came in from helping Marcus clean off his vehicle so he could get to work. I cleaned off my own car and shovelled the steps while I was out there. It is already warming up out there and temps are supposed to be in the 70s by Wednesday. There probably won't be much evidence that we even had a storm by then. Ah, Colorado weather—gotta love it!

Gloomy Day

Ugh, it's cold and gloomy out. It has been for days. The last two days were foggy and snowy. I have to go scrape the car before I can go to work. It's still like 27°F outside. *sigh* It makes me all down when I can't see the sun. I want to go crawl back into bed, but that's what I did yesterday and I was totally unproductive. OK, got to get moving...

But, It’s January

Current mood: bearmood — curious confused
This has been one weird weather month! First it is cold (expected—it is January, after all). Then we get record-breaking temps around 70ish. Then it is cold again. Yesterday it rains. Today I got to drive to work in wet, heavy, spring-like, typical March snow. It took forever to push that stuff off my car this morning. WTF?
