I voted today and it seems hardly anybody I voted for is going to win.
I'm a little bummed about that, but not surprised.
I wish the populace would wake up and realize that government is not the answer to their problems...they alone hold the keys to their success and failures. If anything, government is a hindrance to fulfilling the American Dream.
I saw a disturbing commercial when I was going through stuff on my DVR today. It was a Chinese man lecturing to students about the fall of great civilizations, the last being the United States. The scary part is it is all too true. I've long said that we are a superpower in decline.
So, November is National Blog Posting Month (or NaBloPoMo), where one posts on one's blog every day in the month of November. I haven't successfully completed one in a couple of years, but I'm going to give it another go this year.
Looking back over my last few posts, I haven't really had much to say. I'm thinking this is must the thing I need to get my blogging mojo back.
Tonight, however, I must go to bed. I've been battling a cold or something for the last two weeks. You know me, it takes me forever to get over something once I get it. It started out in the sinuses and moved into my upper chest. I don't feel horrible, I've just got tons of phlegm now.
I got a little sad when I got the email today that Vox was closing its doors at the end of September. I rushed over to see if I could export any of the content only to realize I hadn't posted over there is almost 4 years and I only had 11 posts (mainly answering their QOTD) and had uploaded two photos for a logo coloring contest they had. Lame. So, not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. It looks like most of the friends I had on there have long since quit posting or deleted accounts long ago. Only one person I know is still posting regularly, and most of that was paid blogging, it seemed.
I wondered how long Vox would be around. Six Apart has other blogging platforms. It's basically just Typepad lite, but I always found it a little clunky to use. Probably why I never really posted there. It looks like the only posting I did was during my period of unemployment.
Oh, well. Things change. I remember when everybody was on Blogger, then MovableType was the shiite until Expression Engine and then Wordpress came along.
As I sit here weeding out old blog posts (paid links to stuff I don't/won't use again are being purged as well as duplicate or unnecessary posts), I realized that I've been doing this for almost NINE YEARS. Wow. Time flies.
I started blogging back when I was going to school. Between that and a full-time job, the only way I could let family & friends know what was up was to post to a blog. Ultimately, it's become the chronicle of my life and I'm saddened at the holes I find where I couldn't bring myself to write about what was happening at the time.
I'm glad my blogging mojo is back. I've sure missed this place. Now to get her all fixed up and pretty.
I'm in the middle of trying to organize my blogrolls so I can delete my old blogs and I'm finding a horrible trend that is really irking me. NO DATES ON BLOG POSTS! Not as bad, but still annoying, is it has a month and day, but no year.
I know a lot of people don't know anything about coding and just put up themes (especially Wordpress) that they like, but how can a visitor tell if your content is fresh or relevant when it has no date stamp whatsoever. I don't want to keep visiting blogs that haven't updated in over a year. Help a person out here.
My solution has been thus — delete the link. If you don't care enough about your readers to put out accurate information, I'm not going to bother to read it.
