Guess what I got in the mail today? Stuff from CollegeAmerica informing me of the upcoming graduation ceremony IN TWO WEEKS! Does the phrase "advanced notice" mean anything to these people? Guess not.
There is a "Son of the Beach" marathon tonight on FX channel. That show is a hoot! It's so stupid that it's funny.

Actually, it's my blog's anniversary. One year ago today I started this nonsense. I didn't think I'd stick with it that long, but here it is.

Oh, I almost forgot something I wanted to mention:
DENVER IS NOT ON FIRE!!
I'm so sick of the national news making it seem like the whole city is burning.
This map shows where the fire is. It's not even burning any part of the Denver Metro area. There have been recent fires a lot closer than this one. Yes, it's the largest fire in recorded state history. Yes, it's a terrible tragedy that was caused by dumbasses. Yes, this is going to cause many problems in the future. No, there's not more that the firefighters can do than they're already doing. Get a grip, people. Not only do I want to string the person(s) responsible for this up by the thumbs, I'd like to do the same to journalists who need to sensationalize stories rather than simply reporting facts.

Current mood:
excited
OK, I haven't talked about this because I didn't want to jinx it, but I'm starting school again on Monday. Yay!!!! I just found out today that I can get enough financial aid. I'm going to study
interactive web design at
Platt Collge. I'm so excited about this. I've always been crafty/artsy. I wanted to study art in high school, but the classes I wanted were always at the same time as one of my music classes. I considered an art minor at UNC, but never had the time. So, over a decade later, I'm finally going to do it. The first seven months is all non-computer stuff. I just have a really good feeling that this is going to be a much better experience than CollegeAmerica was. I really have to thank my friend Traci for all of this. She's the one that lit the fire under my butt to find something I could be passionate and excited about. I sure hope this is it because I can't afford another "mistake."
Marcus had to go into work at 2 this morning. Poor baby is all sacked out sleeping right now. I need to get into work early tomorrow, so I'll probably be joining him soon.
I'm really ticked off at one of the head managers (what else is new?). He just got back from his honeymoon and has basically taken the last couple of weeks off. Hell, he took a whole lot of time off before that to plan the wedding, bachelor parties, etc. The asst. manager accidentally scheduled both the head manager and the day manager to open today. The poor day manager hasn't had a day off in OVER two weeks, but the head manager decides to go home. What an ass. I told him I was going to take some time off sometime around the beginning of next month since Platt's summer break is the first two weeks of July and I won't get another chance for a break until Christmas. He tells me he was planning on taking some time off then since they're closing on their new house on July 1st. Well, tough shit. He can figure out how to cover my work. I think he's had enough time off.
I've been such a dork where my car is concernd lately. I was told a long time ago I needed to get a new battery, but I forgot. The other day, it wouldn't start when I got out of WalMart and Marcus had to come rescue me. I still need a new battery (corrosion kept it from making contact) and I'll have to take care of that this weekend before I get stranded again. Today I locked my keys in the car and Marcus had to come rescue me again. D'oh!
OK, I better get to bed. I've got a lot to do tomorrow.

Sorry about the lack of posts this weekend. The servers were down where I host my site. I can't complain much because the guy is doing it for free as a favor to Marcus.
Whoo Hoo! I actually have all my bills paid. There was actually enough money for once this pay period to just send the checks for the bills I had and not worry about juggling stuff. I was really worried since my first student loan payment for that dumb CollegeAmerica-waste-of-time-biggest-ripoff-of-my-life was due this month. It's too bad that since the Avalanche are done for the year and school is out that sales will drop again. Oh, well. It was nice while it lasted.
I've been absolutely miserable the last few days. The smoke from all these fires is killing me. Sinus headaches, sneezing, itchy eyes. The wind supposedly changed today and is supposed to clear the air a bit. I sure hope so as I have some things I need to do in town today. I took some pictures in town of the smoke and ash yesterday. I'll post them when I get home this afternoon (if the ftp is working!)
