Chuck Lorre

As I was watching Two and a Half Men this evening, I caught of glimpse of the credits and spied the vanity card at the end. I remember reading something about those on someone's site (google reminds me that it was Big Pink Cookie) awhile back and remembered that I had not posted about it. I guess Chuck Lorre has been doing different ones for each episode since his Dharma & Greg days. They're quite amusing. Check them out. Oh, and Marcus liked the Apple Cinema Display on the desk in the flash version of his site.

I Missed Joan!

Current mood: bearmood — sad disappointed
Ouch, my back and neck are KILLING ME today. I was getting a sharp pain in my back that was making my leg numb this morning.

Man, I realized late last night that I missed the season premiere of Joan of Arcadia. I deleted the PVR event for that show because something I wanted to see recently was opposite it. Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn! Figures that there is absolutely no repeat of the episode this week (unlike repeats of old CSI episodes on CBS all over and the rebroadcast of Survivor). I was excited Friday morning and was thinking that I needed to check to see if it was in the same time slot. What's stupid is that I was home all evening. Booooooo.

I've spent the last three days or so rereading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I want The Half-Blood Prince released NOW (jumping up and down, whining!). I keep checking J.K. Rowling's for news, but nothing. *sigh* BTW, if you've never gone there, check it out. The flash version of the site is really neat. Of course, it depresses me that I'll probably never be able to do flash stuff as cool as that, but I'm sure going to try to learn. I like how the watch on the desk keeps current time and the lighting changes depending on the time of day, stuff like that. There's a section that has a "Do Not Disturb" sign on a door that I read occasionally opens. I haven't seen that yet. Peeves the poltergeist comes through sometimes if you leave a browser window open long enough. Too cool. The frustrating thing about J.K. Rowling is that she's only a year older than I. I feel like I've totally wasted my life when I look at what someone like she has accomplished. Oh, well.

I'm watching the Bronco/Charger game right now. Who is this dorky side-line guy that CBS has?

I have an idea of what I want my redesign to look like. I was making sketches this morning at work instead of working (my back-took me twice as long as necessary to get out of there). Now if only I could sit at a computer long enough to do it.

I don't know how I'm going to swing it financally, but I decided that I'm going with Marcus to Tennessee to visit his mom next week. Maybe a week without working and tossng around 50 lb. bags of flour and 80 lb. batches of dough will help my back heal. I went into school on Thursday and Friday to work out how to deal with my absence lately and figure out where I go next. I'm only scheduled for class one day a week for the next 10-week block since I have transfer credit from UNC. It's some sort of personal communication class. Anyway, I spoke with the teacher who will run that class and she assured me that we can get me caught up if I miss the first one. It's weird talking to that woman. She is very stern and she always seems mad at you when you talk to her. I guess that's just her demeanor, though. The public speaking class that I was taking was cancelled when I quit going, so Chrissy and I will have to take that when it's offered again. I'm going to be allowed to work on my final web project over the next 10 weeks since I only have the one class. That's cool. I'm also going in on Tuesday to speak to the placement lady. She'll help me get my resume tweaked and hopefully help me find a new job.

OK, that's all for now.

Sam’s Apprentice Commentary

I'm enjoying reading season one's Apprentice firee Sam's commentary on this season's shows. I figure I'd better link it here so I don't have to go google-ing for it every week.

Avatars & An Update

Sorry about the lack of posting lately. I just haven't been up to it. All I've been doing lately is working, vegging in front of the TV and sleeping . . . A LOT of sleeping. The good news is I think I kicked the bug I got last week and my neck is feeling somewhat better. Bad news is my back is still killing me.

The Gilmore Girls season premiere I was so looking forward to on Tuesday was a tad disappointing. Oh, well. I still liked the show for the most part, though. The whole Rory/Dean storyline really annoys me. I really wasn't impressed by Jason Alexander's new show Listen Up. Too bad it sits in between two shows I like to watch. I cried a lot Monday when they killed off my favorite character Tim Speedle (Rory Cochrane) on CSI: Miami. I read on a message board somewhere that he wants to concentrate on movies. *sigh* I'll miss him. What else? Oh, the new season of Dr. Phil is boooooring. I've started watching a show called Starting Over that is kind of interesting. Joey is pretty funny so far and I know I'll like The Apprentice more when I get to know the contestants better. Well, guess that about covers my premiere week so far. Man, I am watching way too much TV lately.

A friend of mine from school found this cool avatar maker that I was dinking around with a couple of nights ago. Here's the results:

I think the one I made of Marcus came out pretty good. There wasn't any hair that was just like mine (too frumpy, I guess), but this is close enough. I found it highly amusing that both of our laptop models were there. LOL

I’m Tired of Feeling Like Crap

Current mood: bearmood — sick sick
In addition to the sore neck and back, I'm now sick. Yay. I was bitten by several mosquitos the other day, so I'm sure that probably has something to do with it. I hope they weren't infected with West Nile or anything. LOL My mouth broke out in cancre (sp?) sores and I'm achy, coughy and sneezy (sounds like three of Snow White's dwarves!). The other possibility is Marcus brought it home from work. He said some guys there were ill. All I know is, I'm staying home here to rest. No need making this worse or sharing it with others. What sucks is I had planned on going out to try out my new camera. I finally decided on a Canon PowerShot A75. The final selling point on that as opposed to the Nikon I was considering is that you can change out the lenses. Apparently there is a telephoto lens and a wide angle lens that you can buy separately.

I'm just noticing that the floaters I have in my left eye have shifted. They used to be in my lower field of vision, now they're right in the middle of it. Weird.

Well, the insurance lady from the other company is sending me a release form so I can get a $1000 check for the accident. It's the only way I can see getting to a doctor. Then Marcus and I can sign the papers that get me onto his insurance at work and I'll have the money for the $500 deductable and a couple of months premiums. It'll be 10 weeks on Friday since the accident. I'm really tired of the pain and the lack of mobility. I've gain 11 pounds and lost most of my muscle tone in my abdomen since the crash. It sucks.

I love the layouts the Moxie Girls did for halloween this year, expecially Joelle's. I want to know how to do the alternating post colors. I'm sure it's some php or javascript thing to pull in different css class names, but since I'm know just enough about programming to get me in trouble, I can't code it. I'll have to poke around on the Internet when I get better and see if I can find someone who has done it or something similar that I can hack around with. I tried to see how Joelle had done it, but she's smart and has encrypted her code, so you can't see what she's done if you view the source. I also want to know how to do that. Not so much for my own site, but if I ever get good enough at this to actually do it for a living, it might be a handy piece of info.

I made some really good stuffed peppers for dinner last night. For once the peppers that came into work were large, green and not moldy or squishy. Perfect for stuffed peppers. I offered to pay for some, but the manager (for once not being an @ssh0le) let me just take some. Maybe going off on him the other morning about how frustrating my whole life has been lately including all the nonsense going on in that store (not getting paid, no room to work, etc) had some kind of effect on him. We'll see how long this lasts.

OK, that's all for now. My bed is calling.
