Success

Current mood: bearmood — tired sleepy
So, my first ever fondue party was a success. The only thing that could've made it better would have been if I didn't have to work and could've prepared things at my leisure instead of at a frantic pace when I got home at 8:30. Anyway, I served steak, chicken and shrimp to fondue in hot oil, I had swiss cheese fondue with bread and chocolate fondue with a variety of fruits and pound cake. Yummay!!! Chris brought his salsa concoction (quite tasty) and chips. Dave arrived at 11:45 (he had to work 'til 11) with the champagne so we could toast in the new year.

Someday I'll have a coffee table that everyone can sit closer around and it will work better, I think. Anyhoo, I sat and talked with Dave until 4 am, then I went to bed. Now I get to go back to work. Yay.

What a Way to End the Year

Current mood: bearmood — angry aggravated
<rant>You know, if you're going to have pizzas delivered on a holiday like New Year's Eve when all the nuts are out driving in a panic to get to the liquor store, the least you can do is tip your poor pizza driver. It's bad enough to get stiffed on a regular evening, let alone a holiday when nobody wants to be working anyway. And, BTW, don't ever say, "It's a shame you have to work tonight" to any driver on any holiday. If your lame ass, and others like you, didn't order pizza on holidays, we wouldn't be open.</rant>

Over For Another Year

Current mood: bearmood — tired tired
Well, Christmas is over for another year and I'm totally exhausted. Never, ever again and I going to wait until the last minute to shop and decorate. Next year I will NOT be in the poor financial situation I found myself this year. How insane is it that you have to hope for a Christmas bonus from your boss in order to buy any gifts at all? I fared pretty well in the gift department this year. I feel badly that I couldn't have been as generous with my friends. *sigh* Marcus' mother sent a very generous monetary gift this year that helped to begin repaying Marcus for getting my car fixed. Marcus got me a Debbie Mumm calendar, an ice cream maker and a scum buster (he knows how badly I hate scrubbing our shower). Mike and Nina got me The Lord of the Rings book (I've never read it) and a Blazing Saddles dvd. My friend Dave got me a Foxtrot book and The Who's Ultimate Collection cd. He also brought Red Stripe beer to our gathering for me to try. Hooray beer! (It was ok, not a great beer.)

I have a promising prospect for some part-time employment after the first of the year. I don't want to write much and jinx it. If that falls through, I'm sure the placement department at school will help me find something.

I'm not much for making or sticking to New Year's resolutions, but this year I am going to have to get my life more organized. I've let things get so out of control (especially recently) and I'm very tired of living this way. I have less than a year of school left and I don't want to be this out of control then. I haven't filed any bills since we moved here (they're in a huge box), my craft room is a disaster, my plants are dying, my car is a disaster area, I can't get into my bedroom closet, I still have pictures I haven't hung and boxes that haven't been unpacked. *sigh* Oh, well. I'd better get out of here and go to work.

Where Do They Go?

Current mood: bearmood — curious confused
I don't understand. Every year I buy extension cords, it seems and every year I can't find any of them when I'm trying to decorate. Are there relatives of the underpants gnomes that make profit from these cords? Hmmm.

Also, where did the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas go? I just threw out some Thanksgiving leftovers to make room for the Christmas feast. Seems like I was just shopping for Thanksgiving yesterday. Oh, and I still haven't done my Christmas shopping yet. I'll be on my way as soon as the cheesecake comes out of the oven.
