All in all, not a bad birthday this year. I raked in $150 towards my camera so far. Now I just need to figure out which one to get. Marcus and I went to the Apple Store to look and I'm more confused than ever. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for in a digital camera? I need something a little better than the cheapest you can get, but I don't know enough about photography for the fancy, schmancy ones. There was a Nikon for $999 that I would've loved to have, but it's really too much camera for me. I'd have to take a class or something!

My present I got for myself came in the mail today. I've been looking for this little figurine forever since I saw it in the back of an old cross stitch magazine. It's a Cherished Teddies titled "Justine and Janice." I also got another Cherished Teddies figurine in the auction. Can you believe I got them
both on eBay for
$1.36? Whoo Hoo!!! I'm sure the seller wasn't happy for what they went for, but that's the risk you take when you start the bidding at $.99. The Justine/Janice one usually goes for $10-12. Granted, they don't have boxes or papers and the Justine/Janice one was extremely dusty, but I wanted it for my craft room. I'm not a collector.
Marcus took me to Applebee's tonight for dinner. We went with Mike & Nina. Never in my life have I ever had a bunch of waitstaff sing to me on my birthday, so I asked Marcus to tell our server that it was my birthday for the express purpose of getting a song. Our waitress sucked and while she did remember to send me a free brownie (which I really could care less whether I got or not), she put "no singing requested" on the ticket. Boooooo. I think she just didn't want to sing. Loser. Party pooper. Spoilsport. The server that brought the brownie was acting like she was going to get singers, but it never happened.

Oh, well. She also didn't put our orders on separate checks as we requested, she was really bad about refills (she disappeared with Marcus' glass and totally forgot to bring him another), etc. Our tip reflected our displeasure with her.
Well, I guess I should get to bed. I've spent way too much time on the computer today and my neck and back are really starting to scream about it. I need to get into work early so my birthday weekend is not spoiled by having to see my @ssh*le manager. G'night.

Man, I was hoping Marcus would take me out to see a movie for my birthday, but
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD MOVIES SHOWING RIGHT NOW!!! What is up with that? The only thing out I want to see is "The Princess Diaries 2", but that's definitely a Netflix title. Dang it.

Man, I don't know why that guy who bought
blogsnob felt the need to change the layout of the ads without notice, but I guess I'm eventually going to have to dump it from my site. It's been a long time since I've found any good blogs through it anyway. Too bad.

Today is my 38th birthday!
After reading a post at
Laura's site, I got to thinking about how I have never posted about what it's like having my birthday fall on 9/11.
You know, I still get people who say things like, "So how's it feel to be born on that day?" when they find out my birthday is Sept. 11. I still don't really know how to answer that question.
For the most part, it's fine. It was my birthday before the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks. Granted, that actual birthday sucked ass. I certainly didn't feel like celebrating while I was glued to the TV in shock. But every tragic event in the world has somebody born on that day. Horrible things happen all over the world every day. It just so happens that something really terrible happened on a day that happened to be my birthday.
I don't usually have a big celebration on my birthday. My friend Mike's birthday is on the 5th, so we usually have a small gathering somewhere in the middle. On the actual day, Marcus and I will go out to dinner.
Anyway, my life goes on. It has to. I can't stop celebrating my birthday because some terrorist nut jobs decided to take out their anger on our country and several thousand innocent victims. If I feel guilty for celebrating my life just because there are others that no longer can, the terrorists won.
As for the 9/11 Remembrance, I still bawled during the moment of silence this morning, recalling the horror I felt three years ago. I cried for those that lost loved ones. I have my flag out today in observance of Patriot's day. I do worry that we're becoming too complacent as a country. The horror of 9/11/2001 will unfold in this country again. It's just a matter of time. Unfortunately, it will be someone's birthday.
