About

As seen on Triplux.com/Day Zero:

The Mission:

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:

Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as new year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

1001 Restart Yet Again

Sunday
1
Jun 2008
After realizing the only one accomplishing anything on my list was Marcus and since I'm moving domains, what better time than to scrap the old list/1001 project and start anew? The new list is made with goals I fully intend to reach in the next 1001 days.

#44 - Get an Embroidery Machine

Tuesday
25
Dec 2007
Well, Marcus seems more determined to help me achieve my goals than I am. Just kidding, but he helped me knock another goal off the list. This morning I found a Brother PE-700 embroidery machine under the tree. Item #44 is now in my possession.

Brother PE-700 Embroidery Machine

I've got to take a look at this list in the new year and get cracking. I've been a royal slacker about trying to achieve any of my goals and dreams.

#15 - Took a Knitting Class

Saturday
15
Sep 2007
Today I took the first step towards marking #15 off my list. I took a knitting lesson at a place called The Knitting Habitat over on Parker and Quincy. The felted bag project I was taught is very similar to the Harry Potter scarf I want to knit (uses circular needles), so once I finish the bag, I'll start the scarf. Yay!! Too bad I didn't do this sooner so I could've finished it before book 7 came out.

#69 - Join a designer organization (such as AIGA, NAPP)

Sunday

Sep 2007
Once again my wonderful boyfriend, Marcus, has helped me cross a goal off of my list. For my upcoming birthday on Tuesday, Marcus got me the gift of a year membership to NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals). Very cool.

One of the benefits of being a NAPP member is getting a discounted subscription to Layers Magazine, so I'll cross that one off in the next few days, as well.

Here's all the Stephen King books currently missing from my library. I'm a little frustrated because I know I had some of these at one point. I know of one specifically that was stolen, but aside from that, who knows? I must be missing a box of books because I noticed at least one of my Orson Scott Card novels is missing, as well. *sigh* I ordered Nightmares and Dreamscapes last night, so here we go tackling item #11.

#2 - Find a Full Time Job

Wednesday
3
Jan 2007
Yay, #2 is crossed off the list today. I was finally offered full time at my job. I'll be working M–F, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. My supervisor said I'll take over archiving duties and will eventually get to become a prepress operator. Cool. Full benefits in 90 days, as well.

Here We Go

Sunday
20
Aug 2006
Alright, I've got this baby underway! Ignore the crude design at the moment...it's kind of a placeholder until I get my "real" design finished. At least the list is done and the site is live. I'm not going to mark #1 as finished until the intended design is in place.

1001 Restart

Wednesday
9
Aug 2006
Whoa, that didn't go too well, did it? Eight months later and I still didn't even have the list finished, let alone get much accomplished! By the end of this weekend, I will have this site finished and this project underway!

About 101 Things in 1001 Days

Thursday
1
Dec 2005
As seen on Triplux.com:
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

So, I'm doing this.

I started a list of 205 things I was going to accomplish in 2005 and I hardly made a dent in that list. I never even finished the site I had prepared for it. I found Triplux while searching to see if anyone else had done a 205 list. I've been toying with doing it for almost all of 2005. So, here it is. I'll make posts as to the progress of whatever goal I'm woking on. Wish me luck!
